And the fact that in the current heavyweight era, people like Ngannou, Rico, and Jake Paul are appearing in the sport calls into question its current level. Let's remember that until the 1970s, the best athletes in the US were erasing boxing, and until the 2000s, boxing clearly dominated combat sports. Unfortunately, that has changed... this isn't nostalgia

 

The CW weight limit was 190 during Evander s time.
It as 200 during Usyk's.

 

They didn't need to. By the end of it, Holyfield was a four time champion and faced a who's who of the 90s, and some even think he deserved the nod at 46 against Valuev (personally, I think it was understood that Valuev was going easy on a very old fighter who he had respect for, but even so).
Anyway, here are some names from his 90s run:
Douglas, Holmes, Mercer, Foreman, Moorer, Bowe, Tyson, Lewis.
It was only Lewis he didn't hold a win over.

Regarding Usyk, my opinion hasn't changed, if he ever gets around to beating a few more contenders, like Kabayel, he will deserve top 10, but not right now.

 

Resume / achievement wise he's in the top 15 for me. H2H he's awesome at his best and matches well stylistically with a lot of people. However he is stylistically weak to pressure fighters and would likely lose to the top class ones more often than not. Although HW is not a division with a lot of top class pressure fighters, thankfully for him. He would also struggle with anyone who could match his speed and are a similar size. Again, not many people. Anyone who tries to box him in the center and take turns, however, is going to have an awful time.

 

But Marciano who is considered a top 5 Heavyweight of all time weighed in at 185 pounds.

So surely Holyfield's Cruiserweight opponents weighing 190 pounds and below could count as a Heavyweight resume aswell then ?

Personally I think this is flawed logic.

Because then are you rating Marciano as the Cruiserweight GOAT because he never weighed 200 pounds ? And most of Marciano's notable opponents were under the 200 pound limit ?

This logic just don't work for me.

Neither Holyfield's or Usyk's Cruiserweight resume should be used to enhance their Heavyweight resume.

You can make the case I guess you either dont count CW or rate Marciano with modern nutrition which would get him to 200 solid pounds.

I dont agree with him being top 5 consensous though.

Where was Ali's career when he was 39? Where was Lennox Lewis' career?

People age and that's a part of life. I said that Usyk looked old and out of shape before the fight. You can't look good forever.
