Hell even cocoon of horror Mcneeley would’ve starched Roy at that point with the Green fight. Tarver exposed some of his frailties which had become much more accessible post-Ruiz. Tarver 1 is an under rated win. Yes we know it was close and he gave him a rematch and chance to knock him out which can be respected even if you hate RJJ. You got any excuses tonight Roy is still funny. Once he lost that aura he kind of dried up with each fight. There wasn’t much left to pick out from the carcass, he was still an alright fighter but little remained of the greatness.

 

Interesting that the biggest Usyk fans were predicting Rico to be a decent opponent... Just some weird mental justification of a fight that everyone was angry about being made.

Personally, I trust the opinion of former kickboxing and boxing world champion, Chris Algieri, who having done both sports at the world level and watched Rico throughout his career, was giving Rico no chance against Usyk.

Usyk deserves zero credit for beating a kick boxer, even if he'd flattened him early. The fact he struggled is not good, he deserves all the stick he's getting, as a champion you should be fighting the next in line, not taking gimmick fights.

Just stopped by and saw all the threads, I thought Usyk had been KO'd with all the hysteria, and it was pretty sad to hear.
Now I learned he actually won by stoppage but apparently he lost because he didn't destroy a big kickboxer at 39 years old.
Kickboxing isn't exactly the most different sport to boxing. Vitali was also a kickboxer, there's a good video of him getting kicked in the head and KO'd.
But Usyk was playing games with this fight and it almost backfired badly so he should learn his lesson now.

Crossover fights have always been a thing. And they are only going to get more prevalent. Sometimes, your guy is going to win, sometimes, the other. Sit back and enjoy.

the fanboy coping is quite entertaining, lol. just accept the situation, deal with it, and move on. when youve faced 6 fighters in your reign each one says a whole lot more about how good you are than facing 20 does, that's just how it is. the mental gymnastics isnt going to change that. usyk is a great fighter, but he is a good hw, theres nothing wrong with that.
