It was more of a circus back then compared to today... Novelty fights and (allegedly) fixed fights. One Championship and Glory today are way more professional with a larger talent pool.

With that being said, Grand Prix 2009-2010 were VERY good.

I feel really bad for Torrez. He seems like a nice dude, and he was asking for the Itauma fight too.

    It's sad.

Rico was great but he wont get the jump a second time. The element of surprise was a big factor in this, Usyk clearly had no preparation for fighter. shown clearly in the first few rounds

I'm quoting this because the weight did concern me once @roughdiamond told me about it and it turns out the extra weight wasn't beneficial to Usyk he looked sluggish.

It reminded me of Ali vs Young when Ali looked sluggish at 230+ pounds aswell.

Hard not to wonder what was on Usyk's mind. Kyiv was being hit again the same night he was fighting.

I can't imagine carrying that into a ring.

Great performance by Rico Verhoeven, congratulations to him. Usyk is a great champion and now he could do what Roy Jones should have done but didn't after the first match against Tarver.

I'm sure it wasn't easy, but other fighters and athletes have dealt with even worse. Canelo won a world title fight while still in the middle of negotiating a ransom payment for his kidnapped brother. He still performed to his usual expectations. Brett Favre played the best game of his life after the death of his father. There are a lot of stories like that. I know fighters are still human beings, not emotionless robots. But part of being a great fighter is performing to the best of your abilities regardless of what is going wrong in your personal life.

I don't think Ricos performance was as jaw dropping as the majority seem to think it was.. the reaction has been hysterical.. Usyk looked poor yes but how the **** do u prep for that? A 250lb 6'5 Glory champion with a style pulled straight out of a Jim Carrey script LOL.. Score wise how do u even score it anyway? Neither did much or landed much & both looked ridiculous.

But Usyk put it on him & got it done.. you can't blame Usyk for the refs decision & Rico was finished regardless. In a Glory fight Usyk wouldn't last a round because hes too small & Rico would break his legs but last night Usyk won so stop with the cringe cries of robbery.. his face was a pulp & he was flattened FFS

people from those bomb shelters were watching that fight with any kind of access they could find. My guess is what’s you carry into the ring if you’re Usyk, fight to inspire them to be brave and hold on.
