I wouldn't be so sure. Westerners initially had a lot of success in muay thai because they would throw hands. The Thais caught on of course, but never underestimate a good striker in a combat sport
Chickened out of the contracted rematch against a shot old man. Threw years of his career away to avoid it. Neither should have won a round, as neither did ****.
Pretty pathetic if you think making faces and such from five feet away is dominant. Everyone who paid a cent for that fight should have been refunded double their money. Fury showed his complete lack of balls. his only world level talent is and always was cherry picking.
Yeah but the funniest thing about it was that Dubois called himself the DUSTMAN when he ought to know it’s dustbin men who collect trash lol. He is an odd dude.
Anthony Joshua would decimate Verhoeven like he did Ngannou. So would the others on the list some easier so, but I mention Joshua because of the great fundamentals which we’ve seen him use in the past to catch non-boxers with poor fundamentals, and Verhoeven’s obvious lack of fundamentals would mean Anthony Joshua could walk him onto something, potentially that uppercut. A simply jab, slight step back as Verhoeven charges in and unleash that uppercut, it wouldn’t last very long. Usyk couldn’t find his timing likely due to a few reasons, obviously age, he came in decently heavier than his natural weight, but also he had basically no boxing footage of Verhoeven to read, and combine that with the fact Verhoeven was very unorthodox, Usyk found it hard to adjust mid-fight.
The secrets already out about Rico since he fought Usyk, just like when Fury fought Ngannou. I’m not 100% but I’m pretty sure I had read that Rico’s Team have logged an official complaint looking to get an immediate rematch,so there could be that but then not sure what happens in regards to Kabayel .
Throwing a rugby/NFL comparison in there like its the same as tennis vs Jai Alai is ****ing diabolical.
I think people are underestimating the crossover skills of many kickboxers. They're boxers who kick. They may not be as good as boxers, but boxing is part of their game. Unlike MMA, where striking involves a difference stance to prevent takedowns and fighting non-strikers, boxing in kickboxing is about hitting the other guy at a high level. There are many kickboxers who transition well into boxing. Some more successful than others. Vitali Klitschko became a world champion boxer. Tenshin Nasukawa lost to Inoue, but he's still a high level boxer. Dillian Whyte made it pretty far in boxing. Yoshiki Takei became a world champion is still doing well. Chris Algieri became a champion in boxing. Lucia Rijker is another notable kickboxer who dominated in boxing. People need to stop underestimating kickboxers. Rico's boxing skills may be at Usyk's level, but he was able to overcome some of those skills with size, chin, power, stamina and good movement. I think he gives a lot of boxers fits because of those attributes.
