Riddick Bowe could have been a top 3 ATG.

rubbish. he didnt take the fight. hindsights a great thing but to try and spin this fact is simply ridiculous. he was, largely, untested. except of course for holyfield which is inconclusive and LL. who knocked him the **** out. in an amateur match as well with all the protection that a fighter gets. sorry your hindsight may say one thing, but history says :tired

I disagree ! A serious Tyson with his preparation, beats Riddick Bowe at least 7 times outta 10. Lennox Lewis had Bowe's number and that's why a fight between the 2 didn't happen !

Agreed. There is SO MUCH evidence to discredit Bowe, yet people ignorantly try to claim he could have been so great. It is a joke. He was nothing more than a very good heavyweight who blatantly fought smaller heavies and avoided big punchers.

Bowe-Tyson is the one fight I wanted to see the most and this is exactly how I see it playing out. Bowe and his machismo scraped up by Rock after Tyson uncorks on him.

Bowe, kinda like vitali, had all the physical attributes to take him to an elite level. But again, like vitali, his best years were wasted in obscurity. Vitali got injured and bowe stayed away from any meaningful heavyweights.

It's a shame these two don't have resumes and legacies to back up the promise they showed.

I suppose. See at 2:30. What did Lou weigh here? 255? edit: motor mouth said Holyfield was 44yrs old there.. damn, throwing left hooks like that at 44 yrs old?.. but he must have no power, because Savarese got up, like Bowe did.

    good fighter but waaay overrated.

he was overmatched by a Golota, Lewis, Vitali. he wouldnt have been top 3 in his own era.

    top 3 ATG?? pfff...

Bowe boxed in an era where he could have done a few steps on the ATG ladder.
Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Hide, Golota, Mercer, Morrison, Moorer, Foreman, Ruddock, Holmes, Buster Douglas, Mccall, Tua, Ibeabuchi, Maskaev, Bruno, even Rahman, Ruiz and Byrd could have been on his record.

If Bowe had fought them and won all of those fights, then he could have been a top 3 ATG.
I don't think that Bowe would have beaten all those guys. He is overrated as hell and showed too little to be rated as one relevant ATG hw.
BTW: I really want to shed some tears when watching how much potential the 90's had.

Bowe COULD'VE been a Top5 fighter. He was good H2H, but he lacks the wins.

In fact, his whole legacy is based on the Holyfield wins. And we know Holyfield was not a consistant fighter.

To me, Bowe is barely Top15.

top ATG ever or at heavyweight? For top ATG ever- no way possible and for heavyweight no way probably. He was a big heavyweight who had power in his left hook, but he had something missing as far as his heart for the game and willigness to fight the best. He had 3 great fights with Evander, and they seemed to take more out of him than Evander-who was much smaller.
