Yeah, that's what is so crazy about Usyk's career. He accomplished all this crazy stuff and became a living legend at HW and he was already basically an old man when he really got going into his HW journey. He was 34 going on 35 in that first win over AJ.

His absolute peak and where he looked best was back at cruiserweight. All that beautiful movement, flowing around the ring, piling giant amounts of volume and pressure on his opponents, etc.

So he conquered the HW division and he did it as the 2nd best version of himself. Wild. Now he's still boxing at 39 freaking years old against much bigger, younger, and stronger guys. Still getting it done somehow. Gotta be time to hang 'em up though.

 

I still routinely go back and watch that WSB fight he had with Joe Joyce. I just love that crazy version of Usyk. Wild look in his eye and yelling at Joe to try and hit him, lol.

 

His defence is highly compromised if the footwork situation is permanent, and he's had heavy punishment at times with zero left to prove and a fat commentator's or trainer's salary waiting. Now is the time I say.

 

Usyk was so good in his fight prior, its just weird how much he declined in the Rico fight. But to me, Usyk looked out of shape which could partially explain the decline.

 

Usyk´s team 100% is after the money, its why a fight with Wilder on PBC was even talked about. The team wont chase any particular fighter, because they are after large guarantees by promoters; they are not looking to sell PPV´s or tickets themselves.
Usyk would fight Chisora again if someone paid for that fight, and paid more for it than any other fight.

 

To be fair, Usyk was flatfooted in his last fight too, and his punch volume was down significantly too.
Well, according to punch Compubox, the volume was down only slightly as Usyk threw a lot fewer jabs and instead opted for power power punches.

This approach worked against Dubois, and marvelously so, but it was a disaster against Rico. He was too stationary and too reliant on his power punches. Usyk´s jab is something that always set him apart from the competition.

Getting rid of the parasite manager and klimas was smart, though, both scumbags. One was clearly slime, creating trouble during the Fury negotiations and off partying in London and feathering his nest during the war, and the other was calling Fury's wife the kind of names that could get them into actual fights during meet-ups, and rightly so, with Usyk getting dragged into it.
The lapin guy clearly a pos also.
The bro love bs with AJ and 'Team AJ' is embarrassing though.
So it's a mixed bag with Usyk and his decisions.

 

I could imagine these leeches taking advantage of Usyks good nature.

 

Even though his footwork was decreased vs Dubois, he still came out bouncing with lateral movement and landed quick jabs.

The last fight vs Rico he wasn't even 10% of his usual self... 0 lateral movement or pendulum steps. He also got winded after a few rounds!!

Something is definitely off with Usyk now.
