Southpaw in general seems to give Fury problems.

    Gives most fighters problems.

Funnily enough though a good friend of mine excels against southpaws and struggles against orthodox because most of his gym are southpaws by default. Strange world.

I think this is the main reason he rematched Dubois

I love J-Park but I've never understood why anyone would give him a shot at beating Usyk. Of all the giants at HW he's one of the ones I was least worried about Usyk facing. And I mean the old past prime Usyk of recent years when that fight was mooted not the version we saw the other night who I'd be worried about vs any of them unless it was someone like Mak.

I was much more worried about him rematching Dubois than facing J-Park. I'm not saying J-Park isn't a very good fighter but rather that Dubois is much more dangerous with that savage power of his

Usyk isn't afraid of anyone. It's utterly absurd anyone would even suggest such a thing.

People were even saying he was scared of facing Fabio which is beyond comical. As I said as the time, even though I'm a big fan of Fabio, Usyk made his wildest dreams come true and had Usyk not vacated and fought him he would've hit him at will, toyed with him and administered a nasty beating to him, to such an extent , as tough and game as Fabio is, either the ref or Fabio's corner would have no choice other than to pull him out

When was Wlad ever not "gun shy?" He was a cautious fighter. The version that wasn't was the pre-Peter 1 version, who was usually getting beaten when he stepped up? He was cautious with Steward, look at Chambers and Sultan fights, small men, not big power, yet he still wouldnt open up. Even 20s Wlad wasnt going balls to the wall against Byrd and McCline.

Wlad could still throw against a relatively static target, see the Pulev and AJ fights. Fury was too fast and slick.

Fury-Wlad fight was less boring than the average Wlad fight, snides just didnt want to give Fury credit. If Ali had done it people would say it was the best defensive performance ever, schooling the super champ while barely taking a punch.

I don't think he was afraid of J-Park. I am suggesting his team deduced that Dubois is a less difficult fight because i) they had already trained for him and beaten him ii) Dubois has never beaten a quality southpaw and seems to mentally struggle vs them.

Parker had more of a chance of beating Usyk than Dubios did, because we all saw in their first fight how that match up went. Dubios was the easier option and likely paid more, which is essentially why I thought Usyk took it.

That's not saying Parker would beat Usyk, but the fight would have been more interesting, added a new name to Usyks resume and in my view Parker earned it by facing better opponents.

I know but I don't think Dubois was a less difficult fight because he was far more dangerous than J-Park and came with a far higher degree of risk

J-Park has lost or arguably lost like 7 fights at the time and performed much worse vs all the common opponents he shares with Dubois

    J-Park WUD12 Cojanu
    AJ WUD12 J-Park
    Joyce KO 11 J-Park
    Fabio TKO11 J-Park

    Dubois KO2 Conjanu
L KO10 Joyce on an eye injury in a fight he was ahead on on 2 of the judge's card
    Dubois KO5 AJ
    Dubois TKO 11 Fabio

I know Usyk schooled Dubois in the first fight but many believe the body shot was a legal blow and if so that's the worst we've EVER seen Usyk hurt and the rematch was 2 years later when Dubois was 2 years more experienced, Usyk was 38 and 2 years older, Dubois was even bigger, and was coming off a very impressive 3 fight win of KO or stoppage wins over former unified champ AJ, undefeated Hrgovic both of whom were top 5 rated by The Ring IIRC, and undefeated Miller, and both he and Hrgovic arguably have the best chins in the division.

Yes, I know the Hrgovic fight was marred by the controversy with the 2 dozen billy goat butts but guess what the fact Dubois is so dirty only made him even more dangerous and risky for Usyk to face especially in Dubois' backyard on a Big Frank card. Obvious there was the risk of getting his eyes sliced up which can end careers and Hrgovic has been cut in every fight since he fought Dubois, but all it takes is one billy goat but followed quickly by a massive sneaky right hand or left hook and followed up attack from the much bigger and more powerful Dubois whilst you're complaining to the ref or temporarily blinded and it can be the end in the blink of an eye

There's always massive risk when you face a savage puncher, let alone one much bigger and younger than you in their backyard when you're 38 y/o. You face one x 2 you're giving then another 12 rounds to land the bomb

    Usyk would've schooled J-Park too

To be fair, J Park faced a young confident Joshua who had just beaten Wlad and because he was unbeaten, he was not gun shy. He did not question his chin like the post Ruiz version did.

    2016 AJ >>>>>> 2023 AJ.

AJ has not beaten a legit world class guy since Ruiz in the rematch.

Joshua was cautious against Parker, he wasnt as aggressive post-Wlad.

But pre-Wlad he had never gone beyond the 7th round, or beat anyone better than a similarly inexperienced Whyte.

He was 22-0, coming off maybe his best career performance (Povetkin KO7) when Ruiz beat him up.

Perhaps the best ever AJ was the Usyk 2 version. The Breazeale/Molina AJ doesnt beat Usyk either, and likely gasses harder.

Prime AJ is a bit of a myth. From Wlad to Dubois he was what he was.

True but no matter how we swing in sparking out AJ, stopping the freakishly tough Hrgovic and Miller in B2B fights is highly impressive. Just beating them in a 3 fight run would be, let alone stopping all 3

I really don't believe so. I get that Usyk outclassed Dubois in the first fight and some feel J-Park would pose a more difficult stylistic challenge to Usyk than Dubois did but Dubois was far more dangerous and Usyk was 2 years older and he fought him in his backyard on a Big Frank card. The chances of Usyk getting stitched up vs Dubois was far higher than it would've been vs J-Park and, as said, Dubois is a very dirty fighter and J-Park isn't

I'm not trying to denigrate J-Park he's a great guy and I've always really liked him but I just feel Dubois was the much more dangerous option and especially in his backyard on a Big Frank card. J-Park might have won 1 or 2 rounds but he'd get outclassed too only w/o the threat Dubois' savage power posed. Usyk is crossing a minefield up at HW vs all these giants, savage punching giants, big punching giants, all of whom younger or much younger and in their backyards and on the road and fighting them all twice meant he had to do so again and it benefited them not him
