I agree, but it's not Fury's fault that Wlad was gun shy for 12 rounds, and as far as I'm concerned, you don't earn a rematch by being comprehensively outpointed, even if it was boring to watch.

End of the day it was Wlad who was the defending champion. He ought to fight like one.

Again, hardly Fury's fault. Nobody forced Wlad in that ring.

 

Your first point isn’t how boxing works.

Firstly, there’s the style differences. Imagine Joshua landing his uppercut with how Verhoeven fights. It was there all night for Usyk, but Usyk is shorter, so the peak point of torque isn’t optimal for Usyk when landing that uppercut against Verhoeven, it was coming from lower, so Verhoeven had more time to see it coming, and also like I said, due to the height difference, the optimal point of torque wasn’t there.

The optimal point of torque only came when Verhoeven ducked so low, where he couldn’t see it coming, and was so low that he gave Usyk the optimal point of torque. (Verhoeven already fought low, but he went even lower and gave Usyk the optimal point of torque).

Because Joshua is taller, that optimal point of torque is already there with how Verhoeven fights, he doesn’t need Verhoeven to duck even lower, just how he ducks in general when attacked would be enough with the fundamental errors he makes.

Also Joshua (and any other fighter) will now have footage to go off of, which will allow them to prepare for Verhoeven’s unorthodox moves, and simply exploit them for what they are, which is fundamental boxing errors.

Honestly you could put someone like Wardley in and he'd end up melting him in a couple rounds....................and I do not think highly of Wardley at all. Anyone, and I mean anyone coming from another combat sport would be in peril.......................in absolute hell against a legit HW hitter, even a hitter that isn't all that elite in boxing.

 

I’m not a fan of Joshua but he would do the same to Rico as he did to Ngannou,so would most of the known punchers tbh . It’s one thing making your debut against a conservative Heavyweight like Fury or Usyk, but it’s a different ball game next time out when the cats out the bag and your against an offensive Heavyweight !

All of that is on the assumption that Rico fights AJ with the same game plan. Do you really think his team won't make adjustments when fighting different opponents?

Rico still has the advantage of surprise because if his opponents study the Usyk tape and build a game plan off it, and Rico comes in with a different one, they're in trouble.

 

Rico and Ngannou are two very different fighters.

 

Yes they are but I still expect the same outcome when/if Rico fights an offensive fighter .

 

I'd say AJ because thats a nice little niche for him to beat up all the specialists.

BUT if AJ wins(which he will) I feel he'd get a title shot and I also feel like Fury and AJ should have to move the moon, sun and stars to deserve a title shot given what they've put the division through.

 

AJ hasn't really been an offensive fighter for quite some time. Even in the Ngannou fight, it was Ngannou who was coming forward.

also, I think he can pull it off. Rico kept getting hit by uppercuts. He’s not going to eat too many of those from AJ before he’s KOd.
