Kabayels resume is so thin ? Who has a better resume in the chasing pack in your opinion ? Kabayel in his last four fights has taken 3 0s stopping all of them and one of them is now IBF mandatory to Usyk .

Practically any of the other mandatories that Usyk has had so far.

Having a 0 means sweet FA if you're not fighting top opposition.

Kabayel should have fought other contenders. Like Hrgovic or Parker or Dubois or Joyce. Lots of guys to choose from

I did. All of Usyks mandatories up until this point, including those Usyk chose not to fight via vacating.

Zhang was 41 years old when Kabayel fought him, the Chisora fight was 9 years ago, Sanchez was injured (wearing a knee brace during the fight), Mahkmudov was a good win at the time but has aged poorly since and Dynba has beaten absolutely nobody of note.

Even Wilder has a better resume than Kabayel does.

So while Kabayel is the next rightful opponent as per the mandatories, it doesn't change the fact he hasn't really done a hell of a lot to earn it while sitting on his spot.

Love the guy, but he deserves what he gets, then.

I like the fight but he has to drop the WBC belt. Time for Kabayel to get his shot or be elevated.

If he fights Fury now, Fury could probably win ...
If Fury wants the win so bad he should ignore the AJ fight and pursue the trilogy with Usyk, now is his chance.

You may be right. If he used the Rico fight to gauge where he’s at, he probably knows his answer now and would probably be wise to plan his exit. Drop the belts and run his high profile but less tasking exit sequence

After the fight Usyk said he's ready to fight anyone if Turki Alalshikh is interested in organizing the fight. I agree with Usyk's intentions, obviously it's the fighters who step into the ring and it's only right that they want to earn as much money as possible. Turki Alalshikh said that before a rematch with Rico Usyk has Kabayel. Then, Usyk can fight whoever he wants, of course, the important thing is that the WBC vacates his title if the Ukrainian doesn't face Kabayel (Kabayel deserves the title shot and that's a sure thing) in his next match (the credibility of the sport is at stake, as is that of the WBC, which in my opinion has very little left). Now let's see how it happens.

Finally, I see a lot of fanboys on social media getting annoyed when people suggest Usyk's decline. There's little to be annoyed about, it's normal for a 39 years old boxer to perform poorly, the possibility of a physiological decline is worth considering.

“Who will Usyk fight next? Right now, everything depends on two things: the right offer and the champion’s own desire. “Oleksandr has nothing left to prove. He is now in a position where he chooses what interests him next. Neither outside pressure nor social media discussions will influence his decisions. “If the next fight happens, it will be because it is truly a major event.”

Am I crazy or is this statement by Lapin a whole lot of nothing? Ya'll are trying to suggest it means he isn't fighting Kabayel, but it seems to me like it's just Lapin being his normal, greedy self and saying Usyk best get paid if you want him back in the ring.

Turki said Kabayel deserves his shot and they want to make it a big time fight in Germany or whatever. So if Turki ponies up the money, I imagine Usyk gets it together and fights him. Unless he really did do everything 100% like he normally does (obviously he didn't as having AJ around would suggest) and he truly is just shot to pieces, why would he avoid Kabayel? Kabayel is smaller, slower, and doesn't have near the gas tank Rico does. Plus, he's a normal boxer that isn't going to bring that goofy 1920s spoiler style. Usyk will have all the tape in the world to watch to get prepared.

Oh, and Usyk straight up said in the ring he'd fight Kabayel. Usyk ain't the type of guy to say something and not do it. He never once agreed to fight Parker even when talking with him in the ring after the Dubois rematch. So he could have pulled the same move on Saturday and fobbed off making a decision saying he wanted to rest or whatever. But he didn't do that. So.

Kinda sounds like ya'll are reading way too much into this stuff, as per usual.

At this point i just hope they fight and kabayel wins against old usyk...

The rico fight was a disgrace and there is almost nothing worse than a hall of fame boxer with the belts picking their opponents and not letting the actually best challenge. That is what canelo did and i hated him for it and now it is what usyk does.

It's gatekeeping for the popular countries. It's rigging boxing. It's a joke.

People have to be smart enough to separate usyk's career into part one and part two and part two started after the second fury fight i guess. Until then he had to do the rematches and who knows what he would have done otherwise. From then on he optimized money. I remember aarguing against @OldSchoolBoxing who said usyk was about to cash out now and it is only about the money. And i said that we didn't see anything like that in usyk's career so far because it was flawless.

And it angers me a lot that i was wrong and usyk turned out to absolutely pick his cherry fights...

First of, he was and is always after money. There's no part 1 and 2. Money is the most important thing. If you have money, you have everything.

That's why he said to Turki: "if your organization is in it, I'm ready to fight anyone you want", because he knows Saudis gives the biggest paydays. That is, he's not cherry picking his opponents, he's fighting whoever Turki wants him to fight. Probably it will be Kabayel next.
