Usyks team signaling that Kabayel isn't a big enough money fight

When did title defences become about how much money they brought in and not the worthiness of the challenger?

 

Kabayel is a big money fight, because Turki will organize it. Thus, Usyk will fight Kabayel next.

And, Kabayel is a mediocre opponent, it's not a risky fight at all. Usyk puts him to sleep in 7. Don't believe the hype around him. They were saying similar things about Wardley, but Dubois crushed him.

 

I don't think they will let Kabayel near Usyk and money will likely be the excuse given but perhaps not the real reason.

I suspect Usyk will now ease his way towards retirement with fairly carefully selected opponents - that don't include Kabayel.

Don't know if woke is the right term.

I think it's because it is hard to build boxing brands like mayweather, canelo etc and many like usyk or crawford only experience that in their last few fights. Then they have to be kept in that position to capitalize on it...

And naturally it works, because casuals are only drawn towards those brands and then feel the need to identify with them in order to hide their actual ignorance about the whole sport and landscape of boxers. And casuals are so much more important to making money than the few hardcores...

 

Where was it implied? Wilder is hardly a big money fight at this point.

Kabayel is not mediocre but he has a bad style to beat Usyk with. Sure he hits the body hard and well but will be tough for him to position on usyk to land like he does against plodders like Zhang etc.

Kayabel is young, fit, sexy and fairly active which is enough to make Usyk pay attention. Can't help but think Kabayel still hasn't been active enough which would be a major factor to help beat Usyk. If Fury wasn't so lazy he could have beat Usyk first time around unbelievable that he got so out of shape and wasn't even in shape for Francis. Having Usyk so hurry then taking a breather in a round which Usyk then popped his nose turned the fight tide, Fury would typically be able to have met Usyk's aggresion and pace but he couldn't.

 

I’m just gonna continue to pretend he retired after the Dubois rematch.

 

Based on what I am hearing I wouldn't trust anything coming from Lapin as being anything other than in Lapin's best interests. But Usyk needs to grow a pair and call the shots with his team - if he is not motivated anymore, then retire. Otherwise work with Turki to get the Kabayel fight. It's the only option that will put some salve on the damage - perceived or otherwise - the Rico fight has done to his legacy.

 

That was the PERFECT time to bow out IMO. Answered whatever low-blow controversy there was, go on his own terms on top.
