Two fighters it's very difficult to say when their primes were.

One things for sure, even if was JC from the Lacey or Kessler fights, and Hopkins from Tito/Pavlik, we'd still get a stinker! Not a good mesh of styles IMO.

I rewatched their fight once and not sure I could manage it another time!

Agreed, and I have tons of respect for both guys, but definitely a bad mesh of styles.

B-Hop has been in two of the most boring fights I’ve ever seen on a major ppv, this, and THE ALL TIME WORST PPV main event FIGHT IVE EVER SEEN: The rematch vs Roy.

Think it would be similar to the fight they had.

Hopkins with the cleaner more effective work but Calzaghe’s work rate and punch output would be tough for him.

Hopkins lands the best punches but Calzaghe’s volume would probably see him win a narrow decision more often than not.

Hopkins UD in another dull fight. I don't believe it was a coincidence that Joe only decided to take on the two bigget names of his era once they had declined and lost cleanly.

Mayweather takes a lot of heat for being the fighter who destroyed the casual audience with expensive, boring PPV fights, but Hopkins definitely played his part and is rarely mentioned anywhere near as much. A legendary fighter but also very dull to watch.

I thought Joe won the first meeting comfortably but have seen it since fight day 18 years ago.

Joe needed 7 rounds for the KD. I had it 6-6, but I cannot watch it again. I tried. It was just too difficult to watch.

Prime Calzaghe wins easily. Too much work rate and in his prime he could also let his fists go with full power. Probably KOs Bernard in the middle rounds.

I expect users here to use the same logic they did with the hypothetical of Beterbiev and Bivol fighting 5 years earlier than it happened. If mid 40’s Bhop could lose by split decision, then surely a prime version of him could win by clear decision
