So the subject of Adam Azim's suspect chin just came up, and it got me to thinking that it's about time to make a list of some of the fighters who are sporting questionable whiskers. So here are a few suggestions, in random order Richard Torrez Justis Huni Devin Haney Johnny Fisher Abdullah Mason Fraser Clarke Jared Anderson Sebastian Fundora Michael Conlon Nicholas Flaz Tim Tszyu Dillian Whyte Deontay Wilder and, of course Adam Azim!! Others???
I wouldn't say I agree with your list; for some of those (eg Conlan) there is nothing questionable about his mandible, as in he has a verifiable paper mache chin and we all know it. On the other hand Wilder has had his chin tested aplenty by heavy punchers, and for all his other deficiencies his chin probably isn't one of them. I think the definition of a suspect chin should extend to fighters that may be packing glass but just haven't fought the right opponent to expose it yet; personally I would put Sheeraz in that category.
Deontay Wilder? He’s got a pretty good chin and is a total warrior, you’d have to knock him out cold to make him stop getting up and coming after you. Fury was able to knock him down (and out) through exhaustion and extended beatings. Not because he’s packing glass.
Is there an actual reason Adam Azim is assumed to have a Suspect Chin? Guy gets hit flush in like every fight but i can’t recall i’ve ever seen him down or really even badly hurt, been in there with decent hitters like Davies, Lipinets, Scoby, 28 Career KOs for Claggett too. What am i missing?
I don’t think Azim has ever been hurt, so I don’t know why you’re mentioning him. If Wilder had a glass chin he would have been knocked out in his last fight, Chisora hit him with a lot of good shots
There seems to be this odd idea that because Amir Khan was a British Asian and Adam Azim is, that they both somehow have suspect chins because of their heritage. Quite a lazy stereotype. Azim hasn't been down once, amateur or pro; Khan was constantly getting dropped with headgear on as an amateur. I do think Azim loses to Smith and could potentially get flatlined because he is quite poor defensively, but Smith has power in both hands, if Azim were getting wobbled by the likes of Scoby and Lipinets then there'd be a better argument.
