Lennox Lewis? Larry Holmes? What's your opinion on those two fighting Prime George? Anyone favour him in either/ both fights?
I'd have him 60-40 over Holmes and maybe 55-45 over Lewis. I think he'd round Holmes up enough to have him stand and slug (which he had a penchant for doing) for periods and that's where i think Foreman gets to him. Lewis is hard to envision and anything could happen, especially early. Both have extraordinary power and while George has the better chin, Lewis' isn't half bad and he'd have the power to affect George. George also has that weird timing thing going on where he can catch people clean with seemingly wild swings. I think Lewis would be in Tua mode, moving a bit and hoping to catch Foreman from a distance. Dangerous for both.
Agree with the 55-45 percentage for Lewis--but I'd probably drop the Holmes percentage to 35-65. I think Larry would be too smart to engage in any kind of slugging match with Foreman. He'd wear him down methodically with that razor left jab, sharp counters, and consistent lateral movement showing George lots of different angles. Ultimately-peak Holmes would have too much boxing skill even for peak Foreman and would use all the tools in the toolbox to neutralize his power.
Holmes either out points him,or stops him late imo. Lennox stops him but early doors it's danger time.
The difference for me is that Foreman cuts him off often enough to force trades. If he can't Holmes wins for sure but i think he can.
I can see Holmes stopping him and have suggested this before on this very forum...I took it one step further and suggested Holmes could win a firefight with young George, something I still stand by.
Still just as laughable as the first time you floated it. What's especially funny is that Holmes himself admitted a firefight is exactly how you don't fight Foreman. If the man in question recognized that standing and trading with George was a losing proposition, it's hard to take seriously the idea that Holmes would somehow beat him at his own game.
I think he knocks out Lewis Holmes-Foreman is very difficult, could go either way imo. Holmes wouldn’t win a firefight though
I'm not suggesting its how to fight him, indeed it would be incredibly dumb to take that tactic. My suggestion was that if Foreman was able to drag him into this kind of fight, Holmes had the chin, recovery powers and engine to weather the storm and finish the job. Foreman was a beast but I'm not gonna reinvent history and paint him as a ring general who beats everyone when it's not too hot for him or he is finding the Lord. For me, Holmes had the attributes to beat George anywhich way, but boxing him would be his safest route to victory. Anyone who thinks Prime George blasts out Prime Holmes is exhibiting wishful thinking in my opinion. Unicorn version of each, 100/100, Holmes eats him up and spits him out. All only in my opinion and I'm not trying to convince anyone I'm right, just having an enjoyable chat with like minded people maybe the world over about things that never were. Its a pleasant way to pass a Sunday afternoon...and its okay to agree to disagree like the gentlemen I always assume we are. Peace and love always ,Px
I've seen Larry get off the floor after absorbing Earnie Shavers best power shot. I think Holme's style would win the day and George gases late after a dangerous start. Lennox? I never saw him rise from the mat and win. Foreman gets to him and leaves him face down
Holmes had the jab to slice Foreman up, the chin to rise from the canvas if he has to and enough power where Foreman can't take those right hands all night.
