In 5 years people will accept Usyk as the GOAT heavyweight

By that logic many fighters today would be more skilled than Ali due to progression of the sport

As fantastic as he is, it's rather easy to argue he isn't in the top 10 tbh

 

I didn’t mean that they literally wouldn’t enhance it.

What I’m saying is, not to the point where someone is going to think any higher of him.

There aren’t the fighters out there.

Nobody knowledgeable is going to be on the fence regarding his greatness, but will then suddenly be swayed by a possible win over Kabayel.

That would just be a nice addition.

Kabayel is deserving of a shot, but he’s hardly done anything.

Itauma has done nothing yet either.

Usyk a great HW.

By any metric.

If he wins or loses against those guys, nothing will change that.

Maybe not as much as itauma, but from the eye test itauma is like a hundred times more promising. And in general he is one of the most promising prospects at that age in heavyweight probably of this century.

No other heavyweight did close to what itauma did with franklin for example. The footwork and physical capabilities are amazing to see for a guy this size.

Not that that means he will succeed in the end. It's weird he fights so infrequently.

Spot on 100%. He should have retired after Fury II or Dubois II. Nothing else is going to enhance his legacy outside of a tad bit of depth.

He beats Kabayel, then he beats a 'one-dimensional plodder' who only beat other flawed fighters
He beats Itauma, then he beats a green untried prospect who was packing glass or whatever.

I just think right now he needs something better to 'sign off' on that the Rico encounter, too much of a waft on that one.

 

I disagree. There are people on here that don't think he is a Top 10 HW. They say he needs more depth (and I agree). Title defenses against 2 undefeated contenders ranked in the top 6 will do that. Kabayel has a good win over Zhang who took out Wilder faster than anybody else (including Fury) and has a win over Sanchez who is now the IBF mandatory challenger. And if Itauma can secure a shot and Usyk beats him and Moses goes on to win a title that will substantially boost Usyk's legacy. The top 10 is extremely crowded and Usyk had a late start with his prolonged amateur career and his solid CW career. He needs these wins to secure a place unanimously in the top 10 for anyone to think he could also be considered the GOAT.

 

When Kabayels 4th best opponent is Chisora he hasn't beaten anyone.
When Usyks 4th best opponent is Chisora he's the GOAT.

When Kabyels 27-0 at 33 it's a shame how inactive he's been.
When Usyks 25-0 at 39 he's got nothing left to prove his storied resume speaks for itself.
