Wlad was scared that Fury's punches would hurt him and he would gas out if he took more risks. He also probably thought Fury would slow down, like a short, fat, plodding K2 contender would.

The praise given to Wlad was partly fake and the performance aged terribly. AJ had been overrated and was expected to destroy Wlad. People got caught up in the drama of the fight at the time. But in retrospect, an ATG shouldn't blow it when he has an inexperienced opponent down, badly hurt, tired and demoralised before the halfway point of the fight. It was a monumental blunder which further exposed Wlad's lack of killer instinct, his overly cautious nature, and his inability to seize the moment.

It was the same situation as why to the Povetkin fight couldn't get made in 2008 as Povetkin's camp cited the same excuse.

Usyk dominated AJ in their first fight and beat him convincingly in their rematch and dominated Dubois in both their fights, Fury is the only that pushed him close aside from Rico, the judges are full of crap, we saw those fights.

 

You have to consider the opposition too, Usyk will always look human at heavyweight because his opponents are bigger than him.

 

You are the type who would be shocked if Nelson Hysa turned out to have connections to the Albanian mob. If you believe that Dennis Boytsov was a top mandatory condender on the merit of his performances then that's ok, the world is full of guilible idiots. K2 were totally clean, had no power to influence mandatories and butter would not melt in their mouths.

Fury was a 30 stone drug addict after beating Klit, it is well known that he is a nutter. AJ, a choke artist in his own right, and green, whooped Wlad but was useless against a good Ruiz and Dubois. Wlad only has himself to blame.

You can give someone credit for losing a tough fight that they weren't supposed to win. And people give Wlad all the credit for that.

Boytsov was an artificial creation, he should have never even been ranked.

Wlad was a 1/4 favourite vs Fury with home and A-side advantage. He was supposed to win going in. We have seen other HW's at 39-45 (Holmes, Foreman, Holyfield, Vitali, Povetkin, Zhang) score good wins and Wlad was still a P4P ranked dominant champion. Against Joshua he was a 5/2 underdog but at the point of knocking a green AJ down in the 6th following beating him up in the 2nd half of the 5th, Wlad would have been a huge favourite in the live betting.

Wlad had no external mental struggles in the Fury fight, that is another pathetic excuse. His father was on his deathbed when he schooled Haye. Fury's wife had a miscarriage going in to the Wlad fight iirc. It is unserious to mention Wlad's tart wife being depressed postpartum as an excuse for him losing.

There is no "righting the wrong" for losing to Ruiz. And even if there were, it wouldnt be running away for 12 rounds from a much fatter less trained version in the rematch. Ruiz hurting and destroying Joshua showed how overrated Wlad was. Dubois also. They hurt Joshua and kept turning the screw, dropping him again and again until he gave up or was too compromised to continue. Wlad could have done the same, had every reason to go for it, but didnt.
