Dubois due to jab, if he tastes Peters power he will probably just back away like against Miller

People are looking at this match-up from the perspective of having seen Peter's decline from the most dangerous boogey man in the division, a truly feared fighter, to a washed-up, out of shape has been. Meanwhile Dubois is either at his peak or soon to reach it. He, too, will likely have a messy decline wherein he looks inept and pathetic. We just haven't seen it.... yet. Take your view of Peter from that period in which no one wanted to fight him such was his power and durability.

I thought Wardley would do Dubois in and then he'd lose a bunch of fights afterwards and become a gatekeeper i was wrong. Dubois is a legit top 5 guy today. But Peter has a good chance

Because Dubois has now proven a better overall fighter than Wlad was then, I doubt Peter will give him as difficult of a fight.

Please. Wlad is a Top 5 ATG heavy. Dubois is a footnote right now.

Dubois beat the man who beat the unknocked-out for-many-years Wlad-AJ. KO'd him when Wlad failed. Dubois beat the man who beat Fury who took Wlad's title and was robbed of his kayo victory-Usyk, they call him. Dubois beat a contender who was 333 pounds of dynamite, roughly a hundred pounds weight advantage like Wlad has just never had to contend with-Superman's Daddy Miller. And most of all, Dubois beat Wardley. Wardley is one of the p4p top fighters of the past 25 years and won the Super Six handily. NEVER question my boxing knowledge on this website forum again, Seamus!

Wlad was a 107 years old when he faced AJ. See how Dubois is doing at that age. Good Lord. Context, people. Yeah, Ali couldn't KO Berbick but Mercado could. Thus, Mercado is better than Ali!!! Look at me, ma! I can do it also!

I think Sam Peter’s durability diminished with each beating he took. That, and he seemed like he stopped training later in his career. But the Peter who took Wlad 12 rounds and decked him in 2005 was a legit contender despite his obvious limitations which some have already pointed out. He was strong as a bull, hard hitting, durable, and applied relentless pressure. Dubois is a big man with a big punch and has better mobility than Peter did. Therefore it’s not unreasonable to favor him. But his chin can be cracked and his defense isn’t much better than Peter’s was. I think this may be a pick ‘em fight…

Oh, come on, that's the same age Liston was when he KO'd Pat Masterson!

In a battle against two strong lummoxes you have to favour the guy who is faster, better skilled and has the better jab, which is DDD.

Remember that professional sparring partners have said that DDDs full power jab is as strong as AJs right hand. He's accurate with it too. Peter will eventually get broken down here imo. Doesn't matter how durable you are when you have no defence and you're likely to be on the end of a Wardley-esque beat down.

There's no evidence for Peter's boogeyman status though. He didn't have any wins of note pre Wlad so we have very little to go on.

Peter by KO (not TKO, a ten count KO) after swinging at air and being outboxed for 6 rounds................

This actually aligns with the source of the "boogeyman" narrative.

Peter was a product of Duva Boxing's hype machine. His highlight-reel KO of Jeremy Williams became the 1,000,000 miles worth of fuel (stretched with kerosene) that fed the machine. The buzz around him was even being compared to that of a 'young Mike Tyson', which wasn't even close the truth, of course.

While Peter can be said to have been fiercely competitive, he was neither feared nor avoided, much as I'm sure Duva Boxing would have had people and the press believe otherwise. Some of the press played along, but all the talk was really aimed at HBO in an attempt to land a network deal for Peter.

HBO weren't sold. They would only risk one fight at a time and against opponents of their choosing, and that's when the value of a single broadcast opportunity in the rehabilitation journey of Wlad came into view, with Peter the useful foil (and test case) in that journey. The Duvas had little choice but to take the gamble.

That was when the "boogeyman" narrative was formed and failed when, despite the drama, the fight itself exposed Peter as a one-dimensional brawler who ran out of ideas and faded in the second-half.

Needless to say, HBO were not inspired to make Peter a staple showing, despite Duva Boxing spinning the loss into some kind of bizarre moral victory (kind of a thing in the '00s).

Wlad lost to AJ because of longstanding psychological and tactical weaknesses, not age primarily:

    https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/badly-hurt-aj-vs-top-41-year-old-hw-punchers.750197/

Non greats Ruiz and Dubois destroyed AJ. 41 year old non greats Ortiz and Zhang would have likely stopped a hurt, gassed out, inexperienced, big A side AJ (or at least lost trying to). But ATG Wlad choked and p1ssed about.
