No one is saying Mildenberger is some ATG contender. He certainly isn't as good as a Quarry, Young, Povetkin, Tua etc. or any top 10 all time contender. The guy was a solid B+ fighter. Solid power, an awkward southpaw stance which was rare in his day, solid overall skills. He obviously isn't a dangerous fighter like an Opetaia. The guy was a solid contender and would be a solid top 15 contender in most eras. Perhaps he wouldn't quite be big enough or powerful enough for the larger heavies, but against anyone under 220 lbs or so, he could put up a solid performance and occasionally surprise people.
Mildernberger has an incredibly important Classic forum advantage. If someone hasn't beaten a southpaw it becomes very dubious if they ever could. Mildenberger is surely a live dog.
Smart southpaw can be confusing for a while for Joe but eventually he figures it out enough to get some power shots through. Once he does Mildenberger will be less able to stop getting hit and what happens with Joe is suddenly you get hit with a debilitating punch and it’s over or the beginning of the end. KO between round 3 to 7.
Karl fought with his hands lowland or brought them back low after punching. Louis would capitalize on this after figuring out that southpaw stance. My guess would be a straight right over the jab somewhere between the 2nd and mid rounds.
A southpaw and a German ? AND has "berger" as part of his last name ? As in, hamburger ? That's like, every American's weakness. Louis doesn't land a shot and gets KO'd with the first one he gets hit with.
