Apparently Tyson Furys opponent in August will be Nelson Hysa

If I had a nickel for every time Fury fought an Albanian with 24 fights I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice.

 

Why are these clowns wasting everyone's time with another tune up? They are moving like prospects. What a joke.

Fury turns 38 in August, and he's fighting a club fighter in a tune-up. The sooner Itauma rises through the ranks, the better. Within the next 6 to 12 months, nobody is going to give a **** about Fury or Joshua. They should've fought 8 years ago, and I'm still skeptical it even happens this year. They're old news in this division, and years past their best.

 

No one cares about Itauma. Fury-Joshua will still be the biggest boxing event of the year by far if it happens, this year or the next, the biggest boxing event in "UK" history, and commercially in the same kind of stratosphere as Mayweather-Pacquiao, or a world cup final in terms of interest. Culturally speaking it is a mega fight. Its absolute peak was 5 years ago maybe, but May-Pac was also 5 years too late. The fight, rightly or wrongly, would define the legacies of both men to a huge degree. Everyone will be watching, like it or not.

 

This guy went the distance with the corpse of Danny Williams in 2022 and now he's going up against a top world-rated heavyweight that is way bigger, heavier and more fresher than Williams.

 

Nobody cares about Itauma yet, but people I know in the UK with a casual interest in boxing are starting to ask me about him and send clips; they're also sick of the Fury and Joshua circus. They want to see the best in their prime. Hearn and Warren might sell it as the Fight Of The Century, but it's far from it, especially now. No chance it's anywhere near the level of interest of a World Cup Final.

Mayweather was still undefeated when he fought Pacquiao, and Pacquiao had only lost badly to Marquez. The fight was too late, but it's nowhere near past the sell-by date that Fury vs Joshua is. Joshua and Fury have both been slapped all over the place by a cruiserweight on 2 different occasions. Fury nearly lost to Ngannou and got dropped, and Joshua got completely obliterated by Dubois and has been fighting YouTubers.

The reason AJ vs Fury could've been so big is that they were considered the best in the division of this era and undefeated; now it's clear they're not, and they never were. In 2018, it would've been enormous; now, a lot fewer people care. Fighting two unknown Albanians who are club-level fighters isn't going to generate much hysteria, either. The sooner they're out of the division, the better.

 

It doesnt matter that they are past their best, the intrigue is still very much there, in some ways moreso because it is felt to be less predictable now. Mayweather vs McGregor was one of the biggest fights ever in terms of the scale of the event and that wasnt even competitive on paper, or a prime fight. People pretend to be sick of it but really, they are frustrated because the anticipation for Fury-AJ has been so high for so long, and they are eager to see it still, if not desperate.

In 2021 this fight was bigger than in 2018, after Fury beat Wilder and got the WBC. In 2018 the mega fight was Joshua-Wilder.

There is no real drama in Itauma and he couldnt have a more boring personality. Who do we really want to see him in with in the next year or so? Hrgovic? Dubois? Kabayel? Sanchez? Only the Dubois fight yields even a fraction of the interest of Fury-Joshua.

Fury Joshua will still be dope. Will still be better timing than Khan Brooks lol

 

The fight lost appeal when it became apparent that neither was in contention for being the best of their era. And plenty of people don't care and won't watch

The Dubois fight did enormous damage to Joshuas legacy to the point it's no longer salvageable

A fight i'll watch out of interest, but far, far past it's due date.

 

This is true, joshua still accomplished a lot but we know he's not the 3rd best British heavyweight of his era anymore, that title goes to Dubois now

 

Anyone who thought Fury would face an opponent with a pulse has ignored his entire career thus far.
