Very good video. Only boxer that I miss in my top list 10 compared to the top 10 list from the video is Joe Calzaghe which I put at 11th place.

I replaced him with Roy Jones Jr., but it is a close call.

Quick fact I wanted to share:

In total, 379 unique boxers received a mention across the 13 surveys.

UPDATE - Much to my own surprise, I may actually have the 2010s finished in the next couple of days.

Part of the reason for this, I confess, is because I'm so darn fired-up for the following video, where I have developed a system to take the results from all 13 decades (1890s-2010s) and create a Top 100. That one is probably a long ways from completion, but I'm super excited for it!

The 2010s should go live around 9-10 hours from now.

Incidentally, I forgot if I locked the thread previously when things were closed, but if I did, I THINK I re-opemed it.

Happy to report that I have gotten all of the artwork done for the Top 100, with the goal of having a finished script prior to the end of June. If I hit that mark, then it's POSSIBLE that the Top 100 will be ready some time in July, but August is probably a safer assumption.

In the meantime, I think I'm going to begin a transitional survey on the best boxing monikers as I continue to work on the Top 100, with hopes of turning my attention there after the Top 100 is complete.

After that, I was considering moving to some divisions I have never previously covered, such as super middleweight.

I'd always be open to more suggestions for future surveys. Should anyone have any ideas, please feel free to share them here.

The greatest fighters in the 9 x inbetween divisions would supplement your surveys in the original 8 nicely, imo, Rummy.

the great contenders & fringe contenders, the great unknown fighters or fighters you should know about... the great fallen away fighters, was it Marty Servo and the like, the great cut short fighters, owing to tragedy, Bummy Davis and the like.

the great opponents and so on.

these kind of stories, for me anyway, surpass all the regurgitated over & over again stories of the usuasl suspects.

based on two of the best boxing books I ever read, "Facing Ali" - the idea for the Great Opponents, and "the Contenders", some of which fought loads of the big names and of course the could have been men whose careers fell short for various reasons.

a Great chance Rummy to apply you're good work to a wider Boxing History.

I've been giving this a lot of thought. If I were going to do that, I'd probably be inclined to start at the bottom, and go through each and every weight class, every other month or so. I'd repeat the 8, which I had longer term plans of doing anyway, and even if I realistically did 3-4 a year, by the time we get to heavyweight, I imagine 10 years would have passed since the last original 8. I'd have to give it more thought. As silly as it may sound, one of the biggest things that puts me off to this is it's going to be difficult to find decent images of most of the boxers in the "newer" weight classes the further south we venture.

I like this, especially the cut short ones due to tragedy. On a somewhat similar note, I was thinking historic boogeymen who were frozen out of title contention. I do still need to give this some more thought. But in the meantime, now that I have my Top 100 script finished, I intend to start the greatest nickname survey in good fun.

Whenever time permits around various obligations, I'll be chipping away working on the Top 100 for what I imagine will be 4-8 weeks. I've already put in a solid 2 just doing the on-screen graphics and scripting things, so it's well on its way, but far from finished.
