Which fighters do you think made the right decision not to move up in weight?

Hagler is an obvious one. Perhaps GGG as well.

    who else comes to mind

Floyd and Manny were right not to go up in the sense all the talent was at 147 and 154 and that was the right place to be. They were wrong in the sense they could have gotten a coffee there and proved they could do it.

With Hagler lot of the upcoming golden generation at LHW were coming to MW and Hagler made the right choice to retire and not be around for that. But going up while those guys were at MW might have worked out. Hearns, Barkley and Leonard all won something at LHW and Hagler could also go 168. Hagler's whole career was tied to being the MW champion but I think when he retired he had a window up north.

Froch you could argue he's more suited to going down a weight then going up.

Tzysu. He was smart to stay at 140 because Oscar, Shane and Floyd were far superior to Tzysu and would have beaten him. Those three didn't stick around at 140 for long and settled nicely at 147. Tszyu would have been pretty undersized at 147 and lacked the speed of those guys. Sure, he had power but power didn't really matter much against those guys.

I don't think Tzysu would have had success againt them and likely wouldn't be in the hall of fame if it wasn't for the number title defences at 140.

Plot twist - Alexis Arguello. He was going to jump straight to 147 from 135 at one point to fight SRL. One magazine wrote an open letter to him as an article, imploring him not to move up.

I mean, he died but I'm not sure Sanchez taking on Arguello at 135 would have been great for him either. Having said that there's been some historic upsets of similar oddsand ilk.
