I'm with you -- I give Haney plenty of credit for being willing to fight anybody and always wanting to prove himself. When he says he wants a fight or would take a fight, he should 100% be believed, as his resume shows he ain't lying.
Shakur is great on the front foot; he would just prefer not to fight like that because of his timing, reaction, and feet. He's got so many options at distance, it makes sense. Shakur ending up with a lopsided decision here wouldn't surprise me. He looked incredible against Teo. I'm intrigued for this fight in an academic way. I want to watch it and see how it goes, see film study beforehand, watch film study after, etc. It won't get the blood pumping but in terms of actual skill on display and the sweet science itself, it'll be as high level as it gets. It's one to study, not one to throw a party to watch.
I respect Haney for wanting to make the best fights happen and is also willing to drop down to meet with Shakur halfway. It may not be the most exciting match up but it's definitely a fight that should happen for the fans to see who is better. I'm hoping they can make a deal and have it happen later this year.
I would love the matchup. That's for hardcore fans and purists. Anyone who has boxed (or at least the ones with a boxer style) should like to watch this. It's not a lopsided fight and haney can actually compete on the timing and jab stevenson has. I'd rather watch haney vs stevenson than someone outmatched anyways. I bet it will be better than the lopez fight. And if lopez was outmatched like this and zepeda, too, whom else do you want stevenson to fight? It's a great matchup, guess it has to have the right fight-card. I will be looking forward to this IF it actually Happens
Although it may never happen but it would be interesting if Teo vs Keyshawn is the undercard. Both guys want to go up to 147 and I think Keyshawn's more aggressive style fits Teo better than Shakur's.
I’m actually thinking that Haney has what it takes to spoil Shakur’s party. Shakur doesn’t have the elite pressure and aggression of Loma nor the power of Ryan Garcia. This what makes this match up interesting since Haney is someone that can be a nightmare for Shakur to deal with.
this is why this fight is so intriguing. you can make a case for either man being a real difficult time for the other, capable of neutralizing a lot of the other guy’s usual strategy and advantages. this is one I hope the YouTube film study channels go crazy with. And I hope they do really detailed breakdowns after. There’s going to be a lot of high level split second exchanges to look at.
