  1. Usyk is the exception. All top heavyweights from now on will be giants like aj and fury

    25.0%
  2. No, as the talent pool increases we will see more talented smaller fighters

    37.5%
  3. Next generation of heavyweights will be bigger and faster like Itauma, each generation gets better

    37.5%

Evolution doesn't necessarily mean more efficient in every way but better adapted to the environment.

We have a bunch of bigger more methodical heavyweights that have been dominating since Lewis and Klitschko until Usyk broke cycle as a mobile highly skilled smaller heavyweight. Does this mean Usyk beats everyone in history because he's the most efficient heavyweight in history and the only exception to the rule ??

Or does it mean smaller heavyweights pose different kinds of threats compared to the bigger slower heavyweights. Was Briedis a harder fight for Usyk than Fury ? Did Michael Hunter and Tony Bellew perform better against Usyk than Daniel Dubois ?

We literally just watched someone know how to use his size, weight, and strength against Usyk and almost beat him.

everything else being equal, it’s better to be bigger and heavier.

and the future of the division is about to be Ituama, a natural super heavy.

Humans are increasing in height, and that will be the driving factor here. Usyk wouldn't last a week against a field of mature Itaumas, and remember, Itauma hasn't been shaving long, we have only had a glimpse of his potential.

Prime Oleksandr Usyk early 30s could very well beat a hypothetical experienced and more mature itauma

If the Bridgerweight Division (or something similar) continues and the generally accepted minimum weight to be a Heavyweight becomes 225 pounds, then those in the Heavyweight Division will all weigh 225 pounds or more, so average members of the Division will be Heavier than when the minimum was 201 pounds, or 191 pounds, or 176 pounds, or 161 pounds, etcetera. If, in the future, the Bridgerweight and the Cruiserweight and the Light Heavyweight divisions disappear, which is extremely unlikely, the average Heavyweight will be much smaller than today. If a Super Bridgerweight Division comes at say 250 pounds, the average Heavyweight will become much, much heavier (bigger). If, later, a Super Duper Bridgerweight Division comes, People will start saying Tyson Fury was too small to compete with the then current Super Goliath like giants. (And boxing rings, hopefully, will have much sturdier underpinnings.)

No. What you're seeing is more big HW's but big HW's aren't going to get bigger. There will be an outlier like Valuev or Fury here and there but guys over 6'6 or maybe 6'7 are just not that good most of the time.

Think of it like balloons on a ceiling. There's lots of balloons on the ceiling which didn't used to be there. But the ceiling is still there and the balloons aren't moving it because balloons are balloons and the ceiling is a ceiling.

The problem with Bridgerweight (200-224lbs) is that then :Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Tyson, Holyfield etc. they no longer belong to HW champions.
