Which boxers Mike never fought would have given him the most trouble?

Leaving aside the opponents Mike Tyson did face, which boxers from throughout boxing history would have been particularly tough for him to overcome?

 

Usyk, Fury, Klitschbros, Bowe, Ibeabuchi, Tua, McCall, Mercer, Foreman, Ali

 

Good list; but you must have slipped on the keyboard and included Fury by mistake.

I would add Liston (sure) and Frazier (maybe).

 

Tyson would tear through both Usyk and Fury

As to who gives him trouble, Liston would with his jab and power as well as intimidation.

Foreman is a hard style match up for him.

Ali-Tyson is a competitive fight but Ali's speed and movement will bother him.

I could see a guy like Vitali causing some issues though i do think Tyson beats him.

Tua and Mercer will cause him problems as well though he should have too much speed for them.

I have always seen Louis-Tyson as a 50-50 fight. Either Tyson early or Louis late.

 

100% and Usyk too would get pasted by a peak Tyson,

neither of them belong near Tyson or other fighters who are a tier or 2 above, 2 above TF and 1 tier above Usyk forsure.

 

Liston, Ali, Big George are the obvious choices.

Under the right circunstances Joe Frazier and Joe Louis could be bad news for Mike.

 

I don't like comparing fighters from different eras, so I'm leaving out fighters like Liston and Louis because there's too little comparative material and a lack of correspondence fights.
I think timing is also important.
Of course, until mid-1986, he wasn't ready for those he later defeated, and many he never fought. At the beginning of '86, Berbick, Spinks, Holmes, Thomas, Williams, Bruno, and many others would have beaten him, but by the end of the year, he was ready. At that time, in my opinion, around '90-'91, I wouldn't have favored anyone; of course, anyone could have caught him unprepared.

In 1995 and later, the list is much longer. Besides Holyfield, he would have lost to Lewis, Bowe, McCall, Mecer, Byrd, Tua, and Ike during the '95-'97 season. He could beat anyone, but he wouldn't be the favorite. It's also known that Bowe wasn't convincing in '96.

Since 1999, in addition to Riddick and Olivier, who were retired from boxing, I'd add both Klitschko brothers, Ruiz, Messi, Rahman, and maybe a few others to this list. In subsequent years, in addition to Lewis, Williams, and McBride, there were probably at least 30 boxers who could have done it before Tyson retired.

I'm not sure Byrd was capable of Tyson... or that long list of suggested fighters either,

certainly agree with earlier times & later times in fighters careers, but Tyson was deadly early & later, his late career was ruined by a life unravelling & exploitation yielded against him, where he was in a constant state of angered anguish, sure that was a vulnerable time for him, but Mike Tyson was deadly for longer than suggested above.

 

I think both Wlad and Vitali would have been a headache. Ali for me is a given, either pre or post exile in his best iterations of both. I think the best version of Holmes beats Mike. Wlad and Ali win for similar reasons. Athleticism, ability to negate Mike's mid range and underrated inside game, jab and 'check' hooks. Vitali is a headache because he is so big, so tough and so durable. I also make FOC Frazier a favourite over Mike. I don't think Mike has those pockets he liked to breathe in here and I don't think he can live with Joe's work and underrated strength. Liston beats him too for me. But. I'd not make any of the above massive favourites and make Tyson 50/50 minimum and a prohibitive favourite against most H2H

He probably spent more time in the ring with McCall than anyone else. He wouldn’t be a problem.
