Exactly this. Plus Fast-Car ****ed it when Fury announced the comeback.

Tried to lowball Tyson with a three fight deal. Warm-up, Bellew, then Joshua. Basically thinking he had three shots at Fury and could use him to build someone else off the back of it.

Warren played ball, gave Fury the leverage he wanted, and the rest is history. Fury saved Brick Top, but Warren used it properly. Now he’s got the same heavyweight leverage King had in the 80's.

 

I'm not fussed if the Fury/AJ fight happens or not. They are both well past their peak and the fight should have happened years ago.

However, I think it shows their true colours if they stage the fight in America.
They are rinsing the fans as it is but to have 'the biggest UK fight ever' at daft o'clock in America is really taking the ****.

I know boxing is all about money but surely they can make an absolute fortune and still have it in UK?

In an ideal world a US fight would tank and would teach them both a lesson not to be greedy *******s but sadly there'll be plenty mugs who will still lap it up

 

Imagine how different it all could have been if the ref in the first Wilder fight waves it off when Fury's eyes are shut. Seen it happen before despite the boxer getting to their feet. The history of heavyweight boxing from 2018 potentially turned on its head.

 

At this stage I think I’m more emotionally invested in the other Fury fight, Big John v Froch, and don’t mind if it happens in a caravan park or even Tyson’s or Trump’s back garden.

I mean AJ is coming in off the back of being outboxed by Jake Paul for four rounds, and Tyson’s last win was against the guy who couldn’t move the Doncaster De La Hoya.

 

Exactly. And you know what mate, there’s likely some alternate universe where Fat Mick is actually running the sport.

Edit : To this day I can’t watch Chavez v Taylor without wishing Steele doesn’t wave it off and Meldrick gets the outcome his performance deserved.

 

Do you think it would though? It was close enough and late enough at the time of the knockdown that Fury would’ve played the ‘ahead on the scorecards’ to get his rematch anyway, and I don’t think the first fight ending in a stoppage changes how the second and third fights go.

Plus I’m not sure where else Wilder would’ve gone in the interim. He never fancied the AJ fight but maybe he would’ve gone for that after Ruiz knocked him out. Otherwise I think we probably end up pretty much where we are now.

 

I think it changes loads mate. Fury’s whole redemption arc started the second the draw was announced, then he got to play the mental health, “I did it for you guys” card after everyone felt he’d been robbed, which all led to the two showcase fights in the US before the rematch.

If Reiss waves it off, Wilder gets out of jail with a win, Fury has served his purpose, and there was no rematch clause. The fight the public demand then is Wilder v AJ. Maybe Tyson eventually comes back and gets another go, but it’s a completely different road. When Froch bashed up Jermain Taylor in the last round, nobody was screaming immediate rematch. Meldrick had to wait years too, and Chavez only risked it again when he was shot.

Maybe Ruiz never even happens because they negotiate AJ v Wilder for that date instead. Once AJ lost he was tied up with the rematch, then COVID hit. Who knows, maybe Miller never pops and reigns supreme, or Hughie finds his man strength, and Fat Mick is back on top shouting “shades of Ali” with Dancing Fran now CEO instead of a “fighter”, *****-slapping Fast-Car in the boardroom.

 

I’d agree with this, I think eventually fury would have come through anyway and same with wilder, they would have crossed paths again, there was enough in fury’s favour that first fight that means it would have constantly been talked about anyway, even as a loss it wouldn’t have just been forgotten about
Not saying the path would have been exactly the same obviously but both guys had their place in the sport and were super saleable so I find it very hard to believe that either of them would have fallen off the face of the earth, so to speak

Besides an AJ vs Fury cash grab, that era is finished. Usyk also looks like he's on his last legs.

Fury keeps messing up his momentum with the constant breaks and tune up fights.

 

So if Wilder gets the stoppage win in the last round, and Fury, off the back of two comeback wins after a three year hiatus, doesn’t get his Undertaker moment, doesn’t survive the round, and doesn’t then get jobbed on the cards, what fight becomes bigger?

Wilder v AJ for all the belts, or Wilder against the guy he’s just knocked out in the last round and can say got sloppy, underestimated him, and still found a way to stop him?

Given what went before in the negotiations, Wilder v AJ potentially locks all the belts up and they have their own trilogy, while Tyson ends up scratching his nuts, cleaning out the division and sitting in a mandatory position ala Dillian Whyte.

I’m not saying Fury disappears, but that draw and robbery narrative made the rematch feel inevitable. Take that away and the whole road changes.

Edit : Stallone on his best day couldn’t have written a better outcome for Fury than Wilder 1, especially that last round.

 

Going back to the original post. Uncle Frank has been pretty smug on his media rounds this week about a "business relationship" with Fury, being clear that Fury isn't part of his QP/DAZN deal too.

Wonder if there's been some quiet deal all along that in return for the comeback Frank gets cut in for life, avoid legal nonsense down the road? It would make a lot of sense whilst keeping QP at arms length from Fury's tangled dealings, Spencer Braaaaahn, Kinahan, etc etc.

Fury getting a visa seems deliberate and fighting in the US means his dad can't pollute the build-up either!

 

Who are they announcing for Fury this week?

I saw a Spencer Brown video from a couple of days ago where he made some hints about it.
1. It’s a warm up fight
2. It’ll blow a few people’s minds
3. He’s done something tremendous

 

Giving the ticket sales to charity, so generous, just like when he gave his entire Wilder 1 purse to charity, what a bloke.

 

He must have carried Jake Paul the first half of that fight or he is even worse now than a prime Dave Allen.
