I have to say, as ****ed up as Boxing's landscape is, with all the unecessary belts and 4 measly lbs seperating half of the divisions, the sport did well regarding its treatment of Bridgerweight.

Literally nobody cared from the moment it was established. I forgot the division even existed until a few days ago, that's how little you hear about it. No fights or fighters that matter, no coverage, no marketing, absolutely nothing. Wish this was more prominent across the sport's "additions" throughout history.

This may be the first thing WBA did right in about 15 years.

Who didn't think bridgerweight was a stupid idea ???? Usyk is literally the heavyweight champion of the world and Michael Hunter beat Bakole and could fight on even terms with Povetkin all bridgerweight does is steal talent from the heavyweight division. I'd honestly say even the current cruiserweight division is stealing talent from the heavyweight division

I like Bridgerweight. I do not agree with this decision.

You shouldn't believe all you read on the internet; after a bit of emailing and a totally unrelated PayPal donation I'm pleased to announce I am now the WBA Bridgerweight world champion. If anyone wishes to challenge me for my title please let me know by DM; in true WBA fashion the judges for this fight will be my Mum, my Nan, and Stevie Wonder.

The only one who really needs that division is Jai Opetaia. Except there’s nobody in it so it would be even worse for him than cruiser has been.

The name itself was the first mistake.
The random weight number is silly: 224?
The WBC should have consulted with the other organizations and launched it with all of them in unison, or at least with the WBA.

Well, there's still at least one bridgerweight belt which Usyk could easily reach down and snatch in order to pad his resume further.....

I suspect it was in keeping with having weight divisions in line with UK stones. There are 14 lbs to a stone.

    112lbs Flyweight = exactly 8 stone.

    126lbs Featherweight = 9 stone.

    140lbs ligh welterweight = 10 stone.

    147lbs Welterweight = 10.5 stone.

    154lbs light middleweight = 11 stone.

    168 super middleweight = 12 stone.

    175lbs light heavyweight = 12.5 stone.

    224 Bridgerweight = 16 stone.

I agree, btw, pointless decision to introduce a weight division above the weight of the HW champion.
