Why did young George Foreman look so big even at relatively low listed weights?

You must've forgot about five years ago then when it was significantly better, and including half of the top 10 now when they were younger and the other half who only got into the top ten because the rest got old.

 

This can and should go into a very Dickensian area now.

And since when is Chisora hovering around the top 10? Id have him comfortably outside the top 15, probably just outside the top 20

 

Jimmy Young is one of the top 10 best heavyweights to never win a title and one of the better defensive heavyweights in history. Young's defensive skills are light years ahead of the likes of Dubois, Wardley or most of the top 10 today.

Perelta lasted the distance vs a younger Foreman and was beaten in the rematch and stopped.

Had a large friend about 6”2 with monster hands of his own he shook hands with George and couldn’t fathom how large his hands were

 

I once shook hands with Ozzie Newsome, Hall of Fame tight end with the Cleveland Browns (and later an NFL GM) and my hand was completely swallowed by his — like, I couldn’t even see anything below the wrist. It clicked pretty quickly … no wonder he could catch any ball he got his hands on, he could wrap them completely around a football, haha.

 

Great question! I observed the same about Foreman ages ago. The man looked enormous

 

Kabayel, Usyk, and arguably Parker are all at least half an inch shorther. Foreman is closer to Dubois' real size.

 

Foreman never had a stretch of fights where he beat 3 Top 10s in a row. Couldn't knock out Young. Foreman ain't knocking out shyte, lol. He would probably beat some, but he would also lose to some. Usyk would probably embarrass him boxing wise.

But it's all wouldas at the end of the day.

 

Camera makes everyone look fatter across the spectrum. If you look at listed weights it's always them looking big for that weight never them looking smol.

 

Nah, every Tale of the Tape from the 70's listed him at 6-3. The Cooney fight had him at 6-4, while they also had Gerry at 6-7(!). So, if you believe either of those, I have the proverbial bridge to sell you.

In the end, 70's Foreman was wee compared to today's studs. He was great for his time but that time has long passed.
