    No, that's an unfair comment.

Usyk looked like age caught up with him in his last fight, better to retire now than to lose to and get beaten up by a mediocre boxer (like Ali was by Berbick).

    He'll probably sign with Zuffa.

I respect the decision, probably an indication he's either going to go for the Rico rematch or retire, either way fair play for releasing the belts and freeing the division up

Wow. I was expecting he might vacate the WBC title. I did not think he would give up all of them. Is he going to Zuffa?

Present day Usyk would demolish Berbick. Ali was seriously sick by that fight. Usyk is in about as good health as a 39 year old man can be.

i get what you’re saying though. The Usyk of a few years ago would be a heavy favorite over Kabayel. The Usyk of the Rico fight though? He might well lose.

The problem is if he doesn't retire his fights are still for lineal. So unless he retires he's freeing himself from oversight while still keeping the title.

If for some reason he wasn't able to fulfill his championship duties, then this decision is absolutely correct.
It seems he'll continue to try to earn a living in the sport – the question is which fights.
I wish him luck. As a boxer, he's achieved absolutely everything and is one of the greatest fighters of all time. The best cruiserweight in history and probably a top-five heavyweight in history, depending on who prefers what.
The guy has nothing left to prove, and if he feels intimidated by young wolves at his age, it's absolutely no reason to mock or dissatisfy him.
I just hope he finishes his career smoothly and doesn't waste his time on some circus fight. He has enough money to last him the rest of his life and even for generations to come.
It would be foolish for him to lose, and if he leaves without such a blunder, it will be appreciated, because rarely do boxers leave on their own terms from the top.

But is he retiring or just giving up the belts? If he's retiring that's fine and responsible and all that. But is that what he's doing?
