Ultimately if he isn't willing to take on the best guys but wants to keep fighting then this is the right decision. Still wish he'd have done this sooner but atleast he won't hold the division up any further.
Weird statement from Usyk to say the least....I wonder if somebody made him vacate the belts, Turki or someone else.
Wow. I think he just wants to do what he wants and choose his own fights etc rather than be told what to do by the organisations.
Why do you hate this man? He seems like a good honorable man to me. Is it because he beat Tyson Fury twice? "Today is Friday, the weather is beautiful and it’s good day to say I want to vacate all the belts I currently hold," Usyk said on social media. "I want to make them available so the guys who are next in line can fight for them. I’m leaving the belts, but I’m not leaving the sport, because I still have my last dance. "I want to thank everyone. I have great respect for all the organisations. There’s more to come!” He still has a farewell fight. Whatever he does, it's okay. No need for you to cry about him anymore!
No. Tyson Fury will not have the courage to fight Kabayel. He avoided the much smaller Usyk for 18 months, before finally facing the smaller man. He'll continue to avoid Joshua too if he looks okay in his July fight.
Is that AI? That almost doesn't look like Usyk... his face and mannerisms look all wrong. Maybe he's just out of shape at the moment, I dunno.
I'm calling all this now. 1. Fury-AJ is off. 2. Usyk and Fury sign with Zuffa. 3. Usy-Fury 3 for the Zuffa belt. 4. Kabayel is granted a voluntary, and AJ is his first defense. 5. (I'm stealing this one) Ituama-Hrgovic is for a vacant belt. Yeah someone has to get screwed for this to happen, but I bet the screw will happen. Every sanctioning body wants Ituama as their champ.
Get rid of all these elevated, email belt holders. A straightforward tournament to find the number one, is the solution.
Usyk's a good man, and I knew he would make the right decision when it came to it. It means the rematch with Verhoeven can happen next, while also giving Kabayel the opportunity to fight for the title immediately. He knows how it felt to be kept waiting by Fury and I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted to do the same. By the way, fighters are entitled to duck whoever they want so as long as they don't have the belt. That Verhoeven fight was probably a massive wake-up call for him, and the last thing he probably wanted was to face Kabayel next, and take a loss that he didn't really need to.
