I kinda like this idea for a fight. I think Dave wins, but it could be fun to watch. And two very likeable guys, IMHO / FWIW.

Yes and you can be facing opponents who are way more banged up and fatigued than you are and you have to try and battle through that and overcome it

It's amusing to me how arrogant some boxing fans really are about their sport, looking at the comments pre-Usyk fight.

Boxing is my first love, but I became a combat sports fan in general, and I 100% appreciate the other disciplines and the fighters within them. I knew just how talented and disciplined Rico was, and the winning mentality he had. He even shocked me though, I didn't give him much chance to compete with an ATG in Usyk. But Dave Allen? Come on. If I'd have seen this thread at the time, I'd have pulled for Rico to win.

I remember there was an event that Triller put on a few years back called Triad Combat, which was supposed to be a hybrid of boxing and MMA, although it was heavily favoured towards the boxers. The only things that favoured the MMA fighters were fingerless gloves, and spinning back-fists. No kicks, no knees, no elbows. No ground game. In some weird triangle ring that ripped off BKB. It was silly really. But actually a lot of fun to watch, I enjoyed it. But guess who won most of the 7 bouts? The MMA fighters. Just because someone doesn't directly compete in the sport of boxing, doesn't mean they can't box. I mean, after all, that is a big part of kickboxing, the clue's in the name. It's about time boxing fans realised this.

It would be interesting fight. As I've said on numerous occasions I believe Dave Allen is the single worst HW in the division with name recognition. If Rico wins that easily then he could build a credible resume from there.

That'd surely have to be Jake Paul though, haha. Unless you think Jake Paul would beat Dave Allen?

Why would Rico fight Dave Allen now? He's ranked in the top 10 of the WBC and just gave Usyk hell. He's after big fights. He might even be Usyks swansong.

Someone else was in this position not so long ago they fought a serious contender and now they don't box anymore.

In hindsight that someone should have consolidated their status as an elite boxer against a regional level opponent.
