Gassiev is very talented and powerful but he has been injured and ill for years.

Will Gassiev be upgraded to WBA champ before Gassiev-Yoka, or will that bout be for the WBA title? It would have to be the weakest title fight since Parker-Cojanu or even Martin-Glazkov if so.

If Gassiev beats Yoka, America's HW king and great hope Jarrell Miller could finally get his shot in a mouthwatering Russia-America showdown.

From my understanding of how the titles are supposed to work, he doesn't have to be "upgraded." The "super" championship only exists in relation to other titles. It is like a quark in string theory. When someone unifies the WBA belt, a "Super" belt is created. There is NOT a stand-alone "super" belt to obtain.

Since there is no super champ, Gassiev is now the sole and only WBA champ.

At least, that is how it is supposed to work. But it is the WBA, so their rules are different now than they were two days ago.

I don't think Gassiev's very good at all at HW. Was getting outboxed by an ancient Pulev until he shattered his mandible to send him into an overdue retirement. I think Yoka can beat him with simple outside boxing, and it's mad to think that could make Yoka a HW champ.

With Usyk gone, there are gonna be some real circuses opening up in some of these organisations as the weirdness of their rankings and machinations gets revealed.
