Is Usyk ducking Kabayel? (VIDEO)

I suspect we are going to see Zuffa go hard to sign Usyk now.

 

Usyk faced a new type of challenge versus Verhoeven. Granted Rico had an unusual stance and a relentless style, but he was no Moses Itauma. Usyk should have worked him out by mid way through the 2nd and started breaking him down.

Usyk went into that fight overweight and underprepared, indicating perhaps that his mind is elsewhere? Or perhaps his body is failing him; or even a bit of both?

Maybe he just wants to pad the wallet with exhibition fights where he doesn't take hard shots from giants? If anyone has earned that right then Usyk has, up there with Ali, or my middle name is not Ivan. Zuffa has been mentioned, and sounds feasible.

 

I think Usyk is just after the biggest paydays possible with his remaining time in the sport.

 

Usyk picks his grand finale opponent, the contenders then scramble around to grab one of the multiple belts, two of the belt holders have a unification fight, with winner (unless it is Kabayel) facing a comebacking Usyk, who then gets a giant payday.
If Kabayel unifies Usyk never makes a comeback.

 

Usyk agreed with the WBC to fight there mandatory and Interim fighter Kabayel next as part of the deal to be allowed to fight Rico,Usyk them pulled a shady move after making Kabayel wait for his sanctioned fight and then drops the belt. I honestly thought Usyk would fight Kabayel the current best of the rest,beat him then retire like Lewis did,thats not happening another mandatory and another dropped belt. I’m not calling it a duck now but it’s certainly a shady move,however should Usyk fight on after dropping the belts to avoid his mandatory’s then that’s certainly ducking ! I’m gutted tbh I honestly thought Usyk was different when he came along and all about legacy and honours but then we had the cross over fight and it now looks like he is going the money route !

 

More similar to Holmes fighting Marvis Frazier rather than Greg Page, in that he's pretty near the end of things.

None of them are exactly fair and square, but Bowe was the worst duck in the sport's history, backing out of a pre-agreed fight when he was a new, prime champion.

Respectfully, Rummy, Bowe finished his career with 44 fights, and three world class opponents, ALL OF THEM NAMED EVANDER HOLYFIELD. I suppose you could be very generous and say four, and give him Herbie Hyde. Bowe fought in the greatest heavyweight boxing era ever and managed to avoid, Lewis, Tyson, Mercer, Moorer, Morrison, McCall, Holmes, Foreman, and whoever else you want to put in that tier. They weren't all running from him.

Bowe had a manufactured career--his quality opponents were primarily medium punchers that he had a distinct physical advantage over. He wasn't going to fight Lennox, to borrow a phrase from Tim Witherspoon, with sub-machine gun.

 

It's a financial duck at worst

 

I mean, it's just more of the same from Usyk.

We were told, after he messed around Parker for months with his dancing injury, that he would be fighting the winner of Parker v Wardley.

Next up in the rotation was Kabayel. Then as you say, we were told, definitely Kabayel but just after Rico.

Anyway, its done now. I'm just glad the division can get moving again. I disagree with Rummy on Usyk still being the man until he is beaten. The man doesn't duck all comers. Though I am sure Zuffa and The Ring will market it differently. Usyk should retire to his alfalfa farm in peace.

 

That's why sports writers at the time properly referred to him as Riddickulous.

 

Usyk Vs. Kabayel is just another one in the fight...; Fury Vs. AJ (undisputed), AJ Vs. Wilder (once undisputed)...
But here the Lineal title (the most important) is vacated. Last time it happened with Lennox Lewis!
At least Lewis fought Vitali once (someone criticize Lewis' retirement now).

 

Kabayel isn't exactly lighting the world on fire facing a low end top 15 guy once a year (and a SINGLE top 5-10 guy in Zhang). He's looked good against pretty good opposition, but he isn't exactly declaring himself. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve his shot; he does. Still, he could do a lot more. Things change when there's one champ and you need to do a lot more to compensate.

With belts scattered, it would be criminal if Kabayel had never fought for a world title. With an undisputed champ who is winding down toward retirement...Agit, why have you fought 10 fights since 2017?

You hit something on the head...these guys that Usyk is supposedly "ducking" aren't going to be remembered.

-I advocated heavily that Parker should get a shot, then he blew it against Wardley, and got himsefl suspended on cocaine.
- Wardley made good by winning a title and then was annihilated by a guy Usyk beat twice.
- Good for Kabayel in finding his way to a belt, but now he has to beat someone better than Sanchez and Zhang

 

I think Usyk should fight KABAYEL in his final fight and walk off into the sunset win, lose, or draw.
