Tiberi isn't as good as Taylor, not looking good.

 

Except that Toney never officially lost to Tiberi. Not to mention that Toney^s record at 160 is better than Hopkins.His wins over Nunn and Mc Callum, Hopkins can't match that.

 

Hopkins has a better case for having a win vs Taylor, than Toney vs Tiberi, on fair scorecards. Not just my opinion, but on collective fan and media scorecards, as well as on any credible independent scorecard.

If he could weigh in at 160lbs (so they took him off the weigh-in) - James Toney would win.

 

There's a weird middle school argument going on in this post.
Anyways, id pick Toney, if he were at his best. I wouldn't underestimate his ability to dissapoint us all though.

 

Hopkins is a far greater middleweight than Toney

 

Toney has by far the better wins at 160. He achieved this in 1 year while Hopkins could not match that in 20 years at 160 . His losses to Taylor do not help either. Cause Taylor might be the best opponent he fought at 160, at least the best natural 160 pounder.

 

Toney never makes top 15, Hopkins is a staple of top 10's and often top 5. Huuuuuuuge difference.

 

My point was simply that Toney has the better quality wins at 160. Hopkins does not have a Michael Nunn or Mc Callum on his record at 160.

Hopkins has exceptional longevity/consistency and was the unified champ at middleweight at 160. He therefore ranks higher. I do not see a case for him being ranked in the Top 5 though. And I disagree that Toney never makes a Top 15.
