I disagree that he was hurt to the extent that you believe that he was. Even if, he still took take care of business. Getting rocked is part of the game. Have you never been stunned before? I certainly have.
He was hurt , what you talking about lol Zayas just didn't know how to finish him...a more experienced fighter would of in that situation, fair dues Boots dug deep and stood toe to toe but he was a huge favourite going into this fight so all the pressure was on him to win and look good .. he won but it wasn't the walk in the park or as easy as he said it would be .. Boots is very hittable , and can get hurt .. Zayas is not even a big puncher, But is Ortiz hits harder but you right Ortiz is more wear you down but Ortiz had good defensive skills and slips alot of shots too and counters, also his hand speed is about on par with Boots too ... That's the fight we want to see next .. Boots Vs Ortiz
I jumped the gun. I rewatched it and he was wobbled. But he showed some grit which was very impressive considering Xander came in probably 180+ pounds.
I suspect Ennis will have greater respect for Ortiz's power than he did Zayas's. The difference in speed between Ennis and Ortiz will be vast, to say the least. I'd pick Ennis in one sided fashion.
I like Vergil a lot but Boots is a very, very bad style for him. We have seen Boots be able to abandon a lot of the flashy stuff he likes and stick to a disciplined, fundamental approach to boxing on the back-foot when he respects an opponent. He did just that in the early going of the Stanionis fight. Boots does very well when someone comes at him, and Vergil doesn't fight any other way. Vergil will get his head jabbed off and will be running into uppercuts all night. Bad style for Vergil.
People are so excited about him getting hurt but they don’t see how that woke him back up and he got back on his job. Issuing out a beating that could’ve been worse if Xander wouldn’t have looked at his corner for help.
Yeah but you talking about what people "didn't" see is rich considering you had to rewatch it to tell he was hurt
True and I give him credit for that .. he dug deep too just like Zayas to come back from that nightmare 1st round .. It was an entertaining fight for sure , worth me in London staying up to watch live lol
He got rocked pretty good but he was never out of the fight. It wasn’t that big of a deal. I’m not sure what you’re trying to make out of that. It was still a dominant performance of another promising undefeated fighter.
It just shows its true what people have said He gets hit "too" much Job done last night, no doubt about it but people need to admit that's a flaw in Boots rather than dismiss it A good showing, but a dominant one isn't one where you get rocked like that He was really hurt for a period
It's like when Shakur beat Teo , he looked perfect near unbeatable, or when Crawford beat Eroll and Canelo looked damm near perfect .. that's P4P .. you don't get that same impression from Boots. His defensive lapses are there to be taken advantage of by the right fighter , he plants his feet to gain power for his shots but that also can leave you a sitting duck for counters he does have some reflexes with his body but his legs don't move enough to get out of danger .. Him and Ortiz jr will be a war lol
That’s what makes Boots vs Ortiz even more exciting. They’re both aggressive and there to be hit. And they have the power to stop the other. For me this is still a 50/50 fight.
Of course ive been stunned, but I'm not s pro boxer parading around pretending to be the GOAT while avoiding every really challenge to prove as much. Against someone with more than 50% KO he would've been in trouble. Big time. Vergil ends the hype train. Fundora as well. Let me put it this way, if Vergil Ortiz resolved his promotional issues tomorrow, Boots isnt fighting him next. I can all but guarantee it. His Daddy we'll say theyre loyal to the defunct Showtime or that his team 'didnt get the email.' Its the Ennis way
I lean towards boots but boxing fans are really underrating Vergil Ortiz for some reason. Let’s not forget that against Madrimov and Kavialiauskas he did just as well against them as Crawford did. Dosent that say something? Boots and Ortiz are not worlds apart like people think. I can see boots winning a competitive fight but to think he walks all over him is ridiculous
Madrimov landed 127 punches on Ortiz, who was marauding forward non-stop, he landed 84 on Crawford, who was on the backfoot doing everything in his power to not get hit. Ortiz is a hell of a lot harder to hit than you think he is. Ennis however, is very easy to land on.
