He's a P4P great but he does not have a rash of fanboys. Maybe the least. I don't know why that guy above said that. Tyson fanboy maybe? I don't know.

I guess I'll have to watch Lewis-Holyfield II again. But that is an old time fight. Maybe I can sit thru it, to judge it, like other people do so easily.

8-4 for Lewis. Not particularly close.

From memory I thought the first fight was very close, but I'd like to rewatch it now as I was young, dumb and watching it in a crowded room 'live'. I did think Lewis shaded it though. I thought fight two was so close it could have been a round either way or a draw so no robbery. Again, I'd like to rewatch it now without the blinkers of youthful impetuosity

The norm is that Lewis won the first fight easily while the second was closer, tho still certainly Lewis.

Amusingly, I literally just rewatched and scored this fight. At the very least, it was distinctly closer than their first bout. I had it 116-122 in favour of Lewis. Holyfield successfully brought Lewis into a dogfight in R6, 7 (almost had him out on his feet) and 9, advantageous to him. R12 was relatively idle and a lot of hugging, but I gave it to Holyfield by virtue of being busier. Otherwise, Lewis pretty soundly outboxed Holyfield; his jab primarily was just too good. The judges were pretty on the money imo.

Holyfield is on my very short list of 'favorite Fighters', and even I have to admit he lost the second fight clearly.

A fight between them at their best is a very intriguing fantasy matchup!

I'm also a fan of Holyfield as a fighter.
Who do you think would win if '99 Lewis instead fought '93 Holyfield?

I would lean towards Evander by decision, although it could go the other way. I think he sets a faster Pace than he was able to achieve in the actual fights, and would go to the body more.

I scored it 6-5 (1) for Lennox Lewis although could see it narrowly being a draw if you pick apart the exchanges in the earlier rounds.

I felt Lewis won. But there’s no denying that the second fight was definitely closer than the first

    1993

First fight: Lewis scores an "upset" decision win
Second fight: Holyfield KO win to regain the belts

Yea Holyfield made some adjustments in the rematch. It seemed he took Lewis's jab away and was able to get into range better than their first fight. He was competitive at least.
