It's a tune up. No problem imo
I think it is good that Fury and Joshua are both having their tune up at a very similar time.
Maybe Joshua should have taken on a similar type opponent

Fury often tends to have two tune up fights or a gap between big fights
After Wladimir he fought Seferi and Pianetta
After Wilder he fought Schwarz and Wallin
Before Usyk he fought Chisora and Ngannou
It looks like before Joshua it will be Makhmudov and Wach

I am not convinced that Fury/Joshua
happens this year

Fury I think has had a few times where he has postponed etc. Often before his bigger fights when he is the A side
(I don't feel either is above the other here at this point)
Klitschko 2 fight was delayed I think on a few occasions and then Fury decided he wasn't fighting
The immediate Wilder rematch didn't happen and Fury fought a couple of tune ups
Wilder 3, I think there were some delays but could be wrong
Usyk, he needed a tune up and fought Chisora, then decided against Usyk and fought Ngannou, then the date was changed, then there was another delay as I recall

So not convinced it will happen this year

I think alot could also depend on how Joshua looks ie the time i felt Fury was serious in offering Joshua the fight was when Joshua was coming straight off his 2nd defeat to Usyk, and I seem to recall Fury saying something along the lines of you should be fighting fit and ok after that sparring session with Usyk (which was a tough fight) and giving a short deadline to sign for the fight.

If Joshua doesn't look good, gets wobbled and struggles through a decision, I think then that there may be more chance the fight happens this year (still not convinced), but feel that if Joshua looks powerful and destructive that it may be delayed a bit more.
That is only a thought

Personally I would favour Fury and am a far bigger supporter of Fury than Joshua.
Never been a fan of Joshua but do like to remain balanced and often don't get alot of the criticism as I feel he has been great for British boxing and looked to be involved in alot of big fights

I would pick Fury, I would favour Fury but I am not entirely convinced this fight happens this year and providing neither lose the warm up, would think that if it doesn't happen this year would more likely be due to Fury, not that I think anyone would blame him (or Joshua) if he got a better offer ie like world title chance

Kabayel i read is now WBC champion, but I don't think that would happen this year with Fury
That is all just a feeling and not a fact

 

Pulev actually fought well in those 11 years. 46 isn't some unbreakable glass ceiling but Wach is somewhere in the basement.

 

He's not even a Top 2 guy in Poland at this stage. And that's saying something cause the HW scene here is TERRIBLE.

 

Non champs can technically fight whoever they want. They don't owe anyone anything.

But the drop from Makhmudov and Hysa to Wach is extreme. And given how well Fury did against Makhmudov there's really no reason for it. Whatever you think of Hysas chances to actually beat Fury he's much closer to Fury then Wach is to him at least right now. Jake Paul would beat Wach right now and he's ranked nearly 200 spots higher.

 

Boxrec has Wach ranked 4th in Poland. He's probably much lower then that and is ranked high off his name.

This is probably the historic highpoint of the Polish HW scene though. Not that it makes this less outrageous but just saying. Not counting UK Poland's got either the 2nd or 3rd best HW scene in Europe.

 

Now I see Szczesny is ranked above him, but I personally wouldn't put him there. Wach looked pretty good against Meyna, who's number 1. Pretty good for his and Polish standards of course.

 

I agree it' not quite as extreme..

 

Fury never fights live bodies. Old men and bums are his meal ticket. The only guys close to prime he ever beat were Chisora and Wilder, and they were both gatekeepers at best.

 

Most people are saying both fights are crap but hey push that narrative

 

Top 15 is a stretch, Mak was outclassed by Torrez-victim Vianello and destroyed by Kabayel, best win 41 Takam in a close one. At least Wallin has Gassiev and Breazeale on his record, and did better against a better version of Fury.

Yeah, I agree. Apparently, this is going to be a non-broadcast fight and won't even be shown live on Netflix, so scratch everything I said about it having a decent undercard or reaching a wider audience.
