Joyce is a good replacement. Kadiru or Moore? No.

You're right. It's unfair to everyone else on the bill if Kadiru or Moore are selected which would be such a disgrace that the whole card would be better off canceled. Joyce being selected truly saves the show.

Oh it was more a cheeky reference for catch's excuse as to why Gassiev got outboxes by Otto Wallin

That's a lot of cope. Joyce is a realistic and reasonable last minute replacement. These jokers Gassiev is looking at fighting instead are not.

This whole clown show just solidifies how worthless the WBA belt actually is when you have better non title fights out there.

But sure, continue trying to clown Itauma for taking on actually challenges rather than some club level fighter for a title defense.

Something like Suslenkov-Gassiev and Joyce-Moore/Kadiru would be okay.

Joyce should not receive a world title shot after losing 4 of his past 5, even if he is a privileged British boxer.

While true, Gassiev arguably doesn't deserve the title at all. Moore and Kadiru deserve a shot even less than Joyce does.

Moore, Suslenkov and Joyce should be the only front running opponents for Gassiev, so why are they scraping the bottom of the barrel ?

I think Moore is an ok replacement, he's not a weak journeyman like Milton, but Gassiev should beat him

Cute phrase, but no, a fighter can loose a fight and get back on the horse.

Apparently he was offered. Maybe yet another who didn't want the smoke.

He was looking to fight Itauma. He was looking to fight Miller. He was looking to fight Hrgovic.

Except that it is one of the big four belts.

    For turning down a belt.

They have apparently offered the shot to a number of people including Joyce. You are making assumptions.

I'm not making any assumptions. I have no idea who he'll end up fighting. These are the replacement opponents that have been discussed, and I'm discussing with my fellow boxing fans(on a boxing forum no less) the quality of the candidates in question.

That's true. But on the flip side Gassiev shouldn't even be owner of a HW belt. He's champion only because he won a bogus secondary world title against a geriatric Pulev and elevated to full world champion after Usyk vacated. He should thank Usyk and the WBA. The WBA HW title right now is useless trinket belt until it sees some real high level action again.
