Is Byrd in desperate need of money or something? It sucks seeing him fight in his 50s in a small venue in Zambia and getting knocked out by a club fighter. I hope they don’t allow him another fight. This is just unacceptable.
Attention is a damn addictive thing... That and some guys just cannot, ever, accept that they have nothing left to prove - and they'll suffer over and over again proving themselves wrong.
I spoke to Chris one time and he seemed very bitter about how his career went. He said Don King wasted the best years of his career. He was mad Lewis ducked him and he couldn't prove his worth. I think that was a way to prove something to himself by fighting at his natural weight. He really didn't enjoy fighting at HW.
This hasn't appeared on his boxrec page: https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/4923 Was it an official bout?
I didn't watch the whole thing the other day but at the first few seconds, it doesn't look like him at all. Completely amateurish maneuvering...I'm calling fake news on this
Wow, very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Did you speak to him in person or by social medias ? Also, was fighting once a year since becoming champion (against a Don King fighter) what made him feel that Don King wasted his best years ?
I'm afraid it's him. He looks like he is suffering from some type of neurological disorder. Sad stuff.
I keep saying this. If the old guys can’t/wont give it up, fine, have a seniors league where they fight each other. So much better than watching them get mauled by some 30 year old. think of the Chisora Wilder fight we just saw. Fun competitive fight; Ituama would ice each in one round.
