Hagler gets his hand raised at the end but it's not going to be a wide margin and both he and Jake are going to look like they've been through hell when they leave the ring. Jake when he was on and on the level was a tough SOB to fight.
I've said this before. Any middleweight in history that depended on aggression, power, and stamina, is exactly what Hagler shined brightest against. Hagler gets to open up his complete tool chest against a fighter like LaMotta, he won't need to look for, or overthink the opportunities presented and he'd feast on the many countering opportunities he'd get. LaMotta has no chance against Hagler, he'd face an opponent in Hagler who could match his physicality, ( Unlike Ray Robinson, who he gave pure hell to each time they fought) But miles ahead in skills . There would be no need for multiple fights to determine who was the better fighter in this one. Hagler's ability to match LaMotta's physicality, plus his obvious speed, countering, and skill advantages lead to a one sided beat down. If any boxer in history could stop LaMotta cleanly it would be Hagler. The ref would have no choice but to stop the beat down to save LaMotta from himself. Conversely, Ray Robinson, though smaller than LaMotta would give Hagler hell. Styles make fights........
LaMotta gave SRR his first loss. But Robinson came into the ring as a welterweight in the 140s and he beat LaMotta 5 of 6 times. In a multi fight series, LaMotta could give Hagler a loss but all in all, I got Hagler via UD
I think he meant that LaMotta is taking so many unanswered punches that the referee steps in and stops it or his corner throws in the white flag. But I don't think he puts LaMottta away for a 10 count. And yes.....a Hagler win over LaMotta would set me alight
Lamotta is a little short in the arms. he seems to be at a disadvantage. seems unlikely to stop Hagler. Pressure him yes, but havent we seen many times when Marvin just ties up the opponent?
I think the movie Raging Bull has distorted peoples views of Lamotta, as some sort of straight ahead, no defense slugger. I think he's an underrated boxer, who could end up giving Marvin fits. I don't think either is getting KOed, and I'd have to give the edge in a head to head matchup to Marvin, but I could see Jake winning as well.
