The Leonard - Norris fight is an invalid reference point upon which to base Leonard’s chances vs Robinson.

Even before they fought, Norris himself acknowledged that Leonard had degraded considerably.

To make his point Terry pointed to KDs suffered by Ray in more recent fights vs Lalonde and Hearns, stating that prime Leonard would never ever have been caught by those same punches.

I would also add that the integrity of Ray’s chin had eroded somewhat by the time of those later fights.

Finally, against Norris, Ray was also coming back from yet another of his hiatuses from the ring.

Doing more packets of pure Bolivian and Colombian than premium coffee brands tends to have an impact on punch resistance.

Lol. Yes, aside from natural degradations due to aging, lifestyle choices factor heavily also.

Leotis Martin landed a helluva punch on Liston but prime, healthy Liston easily takes that punch and makes Leotis pay for it in quick time.

By the time of the Camacho fight poor old Ray was feeling every shot, even the not so powerful.

Ray noted that, unlike the old days, every punch really hurt - and we’re talking Hector, not guys like Duran, Hearns etc. whose shots Ray took really well and whom Ray had previously vanquished.

Tbh, Leonard vs Camacho is one of those fights that I’m not too fond of rewatching.

Superman had definitely been stripped of his powers by that stage. Very sad to see.
