And this right there is why Usyk wants to fight Wilder - it's a checklist item, and while I don't like it much, it means he will be the only one to have fought all 3 form the list regardless of context. Joshua looks the worst having only fought Usyk x2 if the Fury fight does not materialise.

It's worse than that, a transitional period with no stand-out talented fighters.

Not that I am one bit of a Joshua fan, but one should put context to that. And context is that in that time there were parker and whyte who emerged as clear number 4 and 5. Joshua fought both when they could have been a danger to him. Unlike fury's whyte Fight.

Also wilders first try at fury was a cherry pick gone wrong against overweight 3 years out of the ring and off the coke fury. Who knows whether he would have fought him under different cirumstances, his resume doesn't suggest so, though i assume that was his team saving him, not wilder himself being afraid.

And usyk vs wilder now should count for nothing not even a checklist item. It barely counts more then lewis squaring off against bowe now would. Wilder isn't remotely the same fighter. His right hand wouldn't even get usyk out of there if it landed twice

We don't know if it's terrible or amazing because the problems have really been getting fights made that would help us come to those conclusions.

    That's true.

I think it would be a much more interesting heavyweight division if the top 50 would fight more often, three times a year, and fight each other. Sanchez, Gassiev and Kabayel rarely fight - I doubt if they'll fight again this year.

And fighters like Fury shouldn't be going after a shot old man like Wach, he should be facing some prime journeyman like Dacres or Adeleye in his preparation for Joshua.

Yallyev looked very focused and improved on Saturday - makes me wonder how he'd do against someone like Gassiev, Sanchez or Kabayel.

I think dubois deserves a little more respect for his matchups when looking at the heavyweight landscape and what the others do.

Yet he has so many haters.
    He does fight dirty, though.

It's possible the best HW in the world is someone buried in the rankings none of us have ever heard of.

I'm sure he himself wants to fight everyone, but the **** wranglers who handle him probably don't want him to. Can't have the money dry up after a potential quit job.

Whyte was ranked higher when Fury fought him and was a known danger, not a novice kickboxer who was green in the boxing game.

Joshua's legacy will end up being him going 0-2 in efforts against Fury, Wilder, Usyk, with both losses decisive and from the same man.

    Not great.

This is the best kind of nutshelling :) i really enjoyed reading. Much better summation about the hw division beyond "idk it's just ****ing boring and they all suck". And i knew there was something particular about Bena that isn't really that convincing in terms of impressiveness.

It's possible he's as good or better than AJ ever was, and he was considered the best for a good while.

Wouldn't that have been the case when he fought Uysk for the second time and even Wardley?

The problems are inactivity, postponements and cancelations. It's not good enough to fight once a year or cancel fights too frequently (Yoka!!).

In MMA you don't have this problem, and the weight divisions are better too. In Boxing you have to wait 6+ months between decent heavyweight scraps...

A king doesn't run away from a supposedly "bum" like Kabayel. Also, a king doesn't wait a year to fight an unproven, undeserving 1–0 boxer in a gimmick fight. If Usyk were a good undisputed champion, he would have fought Wardley/Parker and Kabayel instead. And I can already smell your stupid argument from a mile away: "Usyk destroys the top contenders." So what? Who the wider boxing audience thinks would win is irrelevant. If a contender earns a title shot, the champion should fight them. The UFC understands this. Instead, Usyk sat out for a year and came back for a gimmick fight. If the belts had any integrity, he would have been stripped of all his titles—yes, even the Ring belt, which has happened before.

And guess what? Styles make fights. The Rico fight showed Usyk can struggle with certain styles. What if Kabayel had been the one to beat him? We'll never know. Just as you don't know that Kabayel, Hrgovic, Itauma, Sanchez, Ajagba, or Huni wouldn't have given Usyk serious problems. Out of all the boxers to beat Tyson, did people expect Buster Douglas? No. But Tyson fought most of the top contenders of his era. While I've been called a "Tyson hater" and rank him lower than Usyk overall, Tyson was 100 times the champion and is a model for what a heavyweight champion should be.

The thing is, Usyk fanboys are a bunch of cucks, just like Fury fanboys were before the Usyk fight. They used the same line: "Fury doesn't need to fight so-and-so because he'd beat them anyway. " I remember when people wanted Fury to fight Joyce, Zhang, and Ortiz, but the fanboys insisted he'd beat them easily, so apparently it was fine for him to fight Chisora for the third time instead. Usyk's actions over the last year have been indefensible. If he had retired after Fury II or Dubois II, he'd be remembered as a top 3 heavyweight. Instead, in my opinion, he's spent the last stretch of his career ducking deserving challengers.

I remember when Fury at least had to try when he ducked opponents. Now Usyk can just say one thing and do another. Remember the four-fight plan? Winner of Dubois vs. Wardley, then Kabayel. None of it happened. It is good for the division, though, because now the heavyweight division can finally move forward at full speed.

Also, your gay argument about "this guy lost to that guy" reminds me of how Shakur's goons winning supposedly dismisses fighters he doesn't face. He employs his goons to beat someone else, and suddenly they're "bums" who were never worth fighting him. That logic didn't work with the Oshaqe fight because he won against Ford, but as it looks like now, Shakur is pulling the same move as Usyk. At the end of the day, you and every other Usyk fanboy are gay cucks, just like Wilder, Shakur, and Fury fanboys.
