Which modern fighters had the quickest sudden fall from their prime?

Mayweather was the exception. He could have kept going in the 2010's.

 

Anthony Joshua. Beat Wlad and Povetkin between 2017 - 2018, then got destroyed by Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019.

Tyson Fury. beat Wilder 2020 and then got destroyed by Usyk in 2024.

Yes 4 years is rather sudden isn't it...

 

Wilder maybe ? i know he was never the top fighter but after the fury fights he coudnt beat any other top fighter

Khan also comes to mind after winning the light welter title and then beating paulie and the ATG scrap with Maidana he looked to be on course for greatness but then that dodgy loss to peterson and the unexpected KO against Garcia he never quite reached them heights again

I agree with the overall argument but just to be devils advocate, Miller is literally an ex-kickboxer himself, and even fought on the same card as Rico once. He wasn't very good either and was already in his late 20s when he left. It wouldn't be all that shocking if Rico did actually beat him under boxing rules.

Like Joe is a very good boxer, but he doesn't exactly spring to mind when I think of scary boxers. And his power is like alright for heavyweight but its not nothing crazy

Khan seemed to mentally check out after the Garcia defeat and stopped taking risks. In the four years between the Garcia and Canelo fight he only fought five times against less than stellar opposition. He seemed so desperate for a Mayweather or Pac fight, and spent his time chasing those fights, in an embarrassing way at times, instead of trying to earn the fight by beating top opposition.

Even the Canelo fight was daft considering the weight difference. At that point in his career, he seemed to only be interested in money.
