The only fighter I think I recognised was Blake Wells very early on in the camp in a short video. Which kind of tracks with Fenech’s vision of bringing in bigger guys. Our man who never sleeps @Sandman_ said Eumir Marcial, the Filipino Olympic bronze medalist, was pencilled in to have a rumble with Timmy. Andrew Hunt was the other name I heard.
Malinaggi has offered to fight Mazoudier. I think Malinaggi gets wrecked at 45 years of age. I don't rate Koen highly at all. I've seen him fight in the flesh and he's feather fisted. But he gave Nikita a hard fight 2 years ago and he's been active. Paulie has fought bare knuckle. First thoughts he'd win. But on second he hasn't had a boxing fight for 10 years or more.
Probably a better fight than Charlo Vs Koen but yeah, can’t see Paulie winning. I hope it happens but No Limit have a way of disappointing.
I do hope Tim beats him, but not super confident. I suspect Spence will be looking for a surprise ambush.
I'd be shocked (in a bad way) if Paulo Aokuso wasn't used. Former Olympian who faced the top Uzbek & Kazakh during his amateur days & has fast hands & good skills. He's based in Sydney & fights on the undercard. Surely he's done some rounds with Tim? Couldn't believe Tim's old team didn't give Conor Wallace a call prior to Beanstalk 2. Tim was sparring with an American club fighter (who was okay) & a Kiwi amateur (who simply didn't have the credentials) for that one. Going from a Kiwi amateur to a rampaging Beanstalk is chalk & cheese. And they're wondering why he got dropped in the first round? Again. If Tim sparred Marcial early on & Aokuso later, he will have done some serious rounds in preparation for this one. Doesn't mean he'll win but it does mean he'll come in ready to fight at his best at this point in time. Can't ask for more than that.
I am equally puzzled why they haven't reached out to Victor Nagbe .He is the same height as Spence and also a southpaw and is fit as he is preparing for a fight for Asian WBC belt on Aug 29 in Ballarat. Interesting fighter on the undercard is Marlon Taples who fought Inoue in Dec 2023.
King Tim abandoned his own world cup final watch party to run 10km this morning. He's focused. Wager large on Timmy.
