All Sonny had to do was get up if he wasn’t hurt.

That fake-ass ‘rover roll over’ thing when he flopped after getting to one knee is all on Liston and that’s how he put himself in position for the way it ended.

When Ali fought Oran Jones...it was just one more marine that gave him trouble...

Are you saying that Walcott delivered a normal count to Liston?

Actually, all Liston had to do was to get up before a count of “10” was tolled over him.

All Ali had to do was to retreat to a neutral corner and stay put.

All Walcott had do was to act independently as the referee, not listen to Fleischer and duly allow the fight to continue when Sonny was back up.

The way it ended is all on Ali, Fleischer and Walcott. There’s nothing on Liston.

Name them and rank them in order of preference then.

    1. Fight goes on.
    2. NC due to Walcotf blowing it.
    3. Ali DQ'd due to interference with the count and standing over Liston.

    Norton 3 was criminal.

    Young was ugly.

The rationale for the stoppage was that Liston did not get up in time. That is 100% on him — and that fake rover rollover from when he got to one knee was the worst acting I have ever seen.

The referee has the authority to stop a fight on a knockdown (or even where there is not one) without even beginning a count. You’ve seen it countless times (pun intended).

The ref didn’t nor did he intend to stop the fight upon the KD.

When Liston did arise, Walcott was about to wave the fight back on just before he stepped away, to confer with Fleischer at ringside.

Jersey Joe only stopped the fight after he was told that more than 10 seconds had expired whilst Liston was on the deck.

A count was not duly applied therefore there was no “time” within which Liston was required to get back up.

Again, there’s nothing on Liston whatsoever. It was all very much on Ali, Fleischer and Walcott.

I liked the pun btw. :)

The rematch with Spinks was a convincing win for Ali. However, the fight was very boring, and Ali repeatedly grabbed and clinched with Spinks, much like he did in the rematch with Frazier.

My man Kenny was stolen blind by the Ali's circus.

He should have gone 3 - 0 versus Ali.

    Hi Buddy.
I watched it in a cinema at 4am, and walked out after the 5th round.

I will never for the life of me guess why Young did that especially considering Ali isn't some big puncher and it was not like Young was in serious trouble.

Do you believe Liston's roll over was real? Or do you mean to say that it wasn't in any way on him that he didn't get up in time even though he chose to fake a roll over instead of simply getting up?
