Most One Sided Upsets

I was rewatching Tyson v. Douglas again, its still shocking just how much and how easily Douglas completely dismantled Tyson outside of a knockdown and 9 second intermission, this was an ass whooping from round one. Same with Ali v. Liston 1, Sonny just had nothing for Muhammad, different levels, different speed. One sided upsets are such a unique phenomenon, give some more examples.

Sanders vs. Wlad (maybe the worst ever).

 

Liston-Ali was dead even on the cards. It was objectively not one-sided.

By this standard, neither was Tyson vs. Douglas.

Curry vs. Honeyghan was maybe the biggest upset of the '80s. It was not a close contest.
Honeyghan vs. Starling saw Honeyghan come into the fight favored to win and leave it a shell of himself.
No one's mentioned Buchanan vs. Duran yet?

My favorite is the first fight between Chan-hee Park and Shoji Oguma. Park looked like the next great flyweight and Oguma looked like a faded name from the previous generation. Oguma manhandled him and made him quit, which completely changed the trajectory of each man's career.

Armstrong versus Barney Ross was an azzkicking for the ages.

Armstrong was the smaller champ moving up in weight and expectations were Barney would beat him comfortably.

But for whatever reason Barney was unable to function, apparently some sort of medical issue, and Armstrong beat the heck out of him.

Monzon - Benvenuti
As we know Monzon was destined for greatness, but in 1970 he was a virtual unknown, and was given scant chance up against the handsome and charismatic Italian, in fact the biggest newspaper in the country had on the front page " Monzon who are you " well he certainly showed em, he systematically broke down the very talented Benvenuti, round by round Nino was losing his composure, the iron willed Monzon was applying steady but unremitting pressure on the soon to be exchamp, the smooth boxing Italian idol was falling apart, his hitherto vaunted left hook had little or no effect on the rock jawed Agentian wild man, welts and bruises were starting to appear on the matinee idol face, the coiffured hair was lank and plastered over the forehead, Benvenuti was ageing before the crowds eyes, and still Monzon continued, unrelenting,unforgiving, implacable in his quest to become champ, the stunned pro Benvenuti crowd were left mouth agape, the finale was, the soon to be old champ slumped in a corner having just been hit by a thunderous right, with his legs adopting a strange posture, like that of a young child playing with his new toy, and the head lowered as if in prayer, little did we know that greatness was on show.

Little trivia:
It has been estimated Armstrong landed 1200 punches on Barney Ross during 15 rounds.

Even more shocking: Barney refused to throw the towel and somehow survived the beating.
