Hagler Vs Langford ?

Wouldn't be competitive at all. Hagler was a solid middleweight but his biggest wins were over smaller men who came up to him Duran, Hearns and he lost to the natural welterweight Ray Leonard. Langford fought all comers regardless of weight and many fighters said they wouldn't fight him etc. Hagler was a great MW but Langford fought them all, you really can't compare the two, not to speak of Langford's physical gifts and ring IQ which Hagler definitely lacked.

 

Hauler lacked physical gifts and ring iq? Do explain. You say Langford "fought them all". Who were his top 5 best middleweight wins? I think you're trolling now.

 

In a more modern boxing match, certainly.

The original premise of this thread though is that they have 4 Oz gloves, no ref interventions, grappling and wrestling allowed.

Hagler cuts and swells up around the eyes and is bald. He gets thrown to the ground, in between dealing with a Langford who's going to enjoy roughousing benefits that Marv just never trained for, it's only a matter of time before the significantly bigger puncher makes Marv uncomfortable. Ironically, Marv's chin and ability to take punishment and dish it out make me slightly worry for his health under these circumstances.

Langford's power delivery under these circumstances belong to the likes of Dempsey and Marciano as opponents IMO, not a Marv who weighed in at 157/158ish lbs and looked comfortable and not drained.

 

Its like thinking Manny Pacquiao could beat Hagler. They both get battered.

Landford would need 10 fights to figure out Haglers left hand lead counter punching

Marvin was a great middleweight but he was not stopping Langford who fought much bigger punchers .. who wins, I dont know s I done even know if Langford ever trained to the death for a 160 fight .. here's what we do know ... Haglr had big money opportunities to move up and never considered it ..

 

No not trolling. Marvin didn't have the same physical gifts as Langford, mainly bone crushing punches regardless of weight. Hagler struggled against a naturally lightweight Duran, and employed probably the worst strategy maybe ever in a big fight fighting orthodox giving Ray Leonard the first 4 rounds instead of fighting southpaw, what an idiot. Hagler was a very physical fighter, never a cerebral one, Langford had the physical traits and a great RING IQ. Marvelous was just a ring name for Hagler, it wasn't literal. Langord had 300+ fights, many times fighting much larger men, Hagler did not. There are levels to boxing Langford was on a level far above Hagler.
