Ryan Garcia v Conor Benn announced: Sept 12th, Las Vegas

Technically, worlds apart, Garcia has elite level qualities about him that Benn could train all day every day for and never have.

 

Whilst that is true, he also comes with elite-level issues - leaves his chin there to be hit, total enigma. Build-up and fight week will be golden though, and hopefully the fight lives up to expectations.

 

Conor has great genes, I wouldn''t rule him out winning.

Nigel Benn was 5-0 in the USA, including KO's of Iran Barkley and Doug De Witt.

 

Birds of a feather flock together...it wouldn't surprise me if these two are actually quite friendly behind the scenes and that this is all just a money grab.

I'm expecting some of the cringiest press conference antics of our lives, everything turned up to 11, MMA style face offs, then Benn to win in controversial circumstances to set up their rematch. God I can just hear them all now -
Adam Smith "Tell you what, I'd like to see this again!"
Garcia "No cap, I won! Let's run it back!"
Bellew "He's such a nice kid Conor, couldn't be happier for him and his beautiful family!"

 

All believable apart from Bellew bigging up a non matchroom fighters

 

Unless he’s shared a ring with them.

 

I think Benn will win this.

 

The quality at 147 is the lowest I've seen it in over 30 years. We've gone from Trinidad, Quartey, De la Hoya, Mosley, Pacquiao, Spence and Crawford to this. I'd take a guy like Jose Luis Lopez or Ricardo Mayorga to chin these two inside 4. Battle of the chemists and social media zombies. That said, Garcia should still be levels above Henn.

Launch presser was pretty much straight out of WWE, almost as bad as that Tom Brady and Logan Paul fake beef.

Garcia will have to go some to top the egg slap Eubank Jr gave him though.
