doesnt sound like much of a case, especially based on one film vs the 20+ fllms of Hagler. from the film shown, what skills are being displayed that hagler lacked??? is it the way he fights flatfooted or his overhand right? what skills are being shown that we have not seen from other fighters?

You didn't answer who Langfords top 5 wins were at middleweight. Was Hagler as physically gifted as Larry Temple, Lee Anderson, Willie Meehan or Young Peter Jackson? Just curious. You seem to think I'm arguing a win for Hagler. I'm arguing over the ridiculous notion that he'd have no chance. As much as I love Sam, and as adamant as I am he the greatest p4p fighter of all time.....he wasnt invincible.
Sam wasn't invincible but you're not comparing apples and apples. In a boxing match under modern rules, with modern gloves and everything that goes with it, Marv has to be favoured. If, however, you change the gloves, the rounds and the rules to a ruleset that overwhelmingly favours Langford, wrestling, throws, mauling and referees that will allow you to work, I don't see why there's any doubts that Marv is at a complete disadvantage. Whilst not the same exact comparison, would anybody favour Marv against Khabib or Makhachev in a fight where you could throw, punch, kick, choke, joint lock and grapple?
A lot can be said .. here's what we know .. Langford fought outstanding fighters from lightweight to heavyweight. His level of competition was second to no other fighters. His chin , his stamina, his strength, his speed and his power were all top notch.

Langford ragdolled and mauled guys because they didn't have any concept of ring movement or backfoot ability. Boxing back then was taking turns swinging at each other. Again, I'm not arguing Hagler wins. I completely agree Sam needs to be favored under the rules of the day. But to say he has no chance? I'm not buying it. Yes Sam would be the better grappler. But could he adjustbt Haglers southpaw stance and combination punching? There are scenarios for both men winning. I named several fighters who beat Sam. Would Hagler lose to them as well because of the rule set? If you can't say yes than you have to admit Marvin has a chance.
Oh, I don't prescribe to any notion that Marv has no chance. I think between the true greats, there's always a chance and often it comes down to experience, power, speed, willpower and sometimes a combination of all and the degrees of separation ain't that big. But under these circumstances, I don't favour Marv. I think Marv outboxes Langford fairly comfy in a modern ring, with modern skillset, but I'm not sure that Marv can jump forward with a jab with 4 Oz gloves with the same punch mechanics and if he lands and finds himself very close to where Langford can grab him, that he can do much to avoid roughhousing, frightening power and being thrown to the ground.
