Prime Muhammad Ali is naturally picked to beat Moorer , but as Ali ages the match up becomes more competitive.
At what point does the balance tip?

Is Ali still the favourite at 33,35 or does Moorer s southpaw stance , power and work rate become too much?

The fight iteration of Ali that Moorer beats is Las Vegas Hilton Ali.

What about the Ali of the Spinks rematch?
And Moorer isn't letting himself get zoned out like Leon?

After Manila. I understand that you also mean fair judges.

Moorer was a much better fighter than Leon, but at that point in his career Leon might have been the more difficult opponent.

Well I would imagine the question is what age Ali starts winning. I'm fairly confident that Moorer sweeps through Ali ages 1 through 17.

Probably around 1975-76 at age 33-34. While Moorer’s chin wasn’t the greatest, I don’t think Ali had the power to capitalize on that weakness. Couple the issue with Michael having fast hands and a southpaw stance and it would have made him a problematic opponent for an aging Ali

1977, he could no longer stave off this level of opponent. Better Moorer than David Tua

I would favour Moorer over post Manilla Ali too.

That being said, Ali was capable of coming up with spectacular punches. The booming right hand he landed on Lyle could also have landed on Moorer and IMO would be just as devestating. Lyle was arguably more durable than Moorer and Moorer, like all southpaws, was open to the right hand.

    Moorer's odds versus Ali:

    -1975 Post Manila: 50% - 60% chance.

    -1977: 75% - 80%.

-1978: 100% Moorer wins. No way Ali beats Moorer in a fair fight.
