Tokyo Buster Douglas vs. Hannover Corrie Sanders.

What kind of chances would Sanders have?

 

In my opinion excellent chances. He's faster, harder hitting and has a better best punch. I'll take his straight left over anything Douglas has. Douglas you could argue had a lot of grit that night - would it be enough to walk through the shellacking Sanders brought? Some might think so, I don't.

 

Honestly a 50/50 kind of fight. It all depends on if Sanders can land that big left hand to starch Douglas but anywhere beyond round 6 gives Doulgas a far better chance to win by knockout.

 

Tokyo Douglas was too dialed in to lose to Corrie.

Corrie blows his wad early and gets broken down by that monster jab, easy pickings for a mid-round KO … say in seven or eight.

Corrie would lay him flat.

 

Did I mention that Tony Tubbs’ lesser brother knocked Corrie TFO?

 

Agreed. Sanders has an excellent chance to win this but the longer this goes the more his stamina fails him and Douglas becomes likely to take over.

 

Translation = old , past prime , semi retired Sanders who got the fight because K2 thought he was an easy title defence is better than undefeated Mike Tyson and would succeed wher he failed.
Translation = i pick who i want to win and thats all there is too it.

 

Thinking Douglas on points but Sanders is dangerous in the first half or even later than that of the fight.

 

Nothing in Corrie’s record indicates that he was dangerous in the second half of a fight — I mean, yeah, he was a big, strong guy and could land a solid shot, but in 46 fights he had exactly one KO win after the third round.

That fight was against a journeyman by TKO almost 10 years before he fought Wlad.

The pattern is pretty clear that anyone getting past (or even to) the fourth round vs Sanders had survived the danger zone. And I don’t see him banging Tokyo Douglas out early.

 

Stop pretending that Douglas liked being punched in the face.

 

Fair enough I suppose. But I liked his counterpunching take time approach vs Wlad then rushing in with huge punches so I was thinking he might be dangerous for longer.

 

Yeah, I see where you are coming from, but his entire CV points very strongly to him lacking the stamina to surge later in a fight the way he did vs Wlad.

His engine was fast-start, but he lacked the gas to push the pedal to the floor later. He might land a big shot after the mid-point, but he never really showed the ability to pounce like he did on Wlad except in early rounds. Whatever he did manage could be weathered, even by journeymen whom Corrie had to settle for outpointing if he didn’t end them early.
