Where would a victory over 2026/2027 AJ rank on Fury's win record?

New era starts once Usyk has fully retired imo.

 

Fury's stock would go up because he'd have beaten a guy who KO'd that guy who arguably beat Tyson Fury. ...But in a way...his stock would go down too, because then that guy would've just lost to an old Fury. So, these stock things are extremely sophisticated and complicated. I don't trust any of us to really calculate the maths. None of us are Fields Medal types.

 

McCall is still fighting that doesn't mean we are still in the 90s

 

Usyk is the undisputed heavyweight world champion without a single loss to date. McCall is a like comparing a wrench to an apple.

Usyk is also planning on only having one fight, and even if he doesn't do that until next year that's not enough time for the rest of the division to have a clear frontrunner. So until one emerges, or Usyk fully exits the sport I maintain that Usyk is still THE champion, and thus it's still his era.

I think a Fury win won't add anything to his legacy. Joshua is a boxer who's been down six times in his last three fights (the only time he didn't go down was against Jake Paul....). AJ is fragile, he can't take the punches anymore and struggles every time he's pressured.

 

Even in the immediate aftermath of the Prenga debacle where people are biased towards seeing AJ negatively, 50% who've voted have AJ as a top 3 win, and no doubt much of the other 50% have him top 4 on Fury's W column. So the Wallin/Makhmudov tier is a massive outlier view here, even placing him in the Whyte/Chisora/Cunningham tier is quite fringe.

And for good reason. AJ is diminished, but he can be badly hurt, get off the floor multiple times, and still destroy you with his power. And he is not fighting a 31 year old Fury, he'll be fighting a 38 year old Fury, which evens the playing field considerably. AJ is a 2x champ and future HoF, which helps to place him firmly above the Whyte's and Chisora's.

 

Rightly or wrongly (I think rightly), it's still a big legacy fight.

 

I don't see how Joshua gets in the HOF on merit if guys like Witherspoon and Thomas don't make the cut.
Legacy wise he is probably a bit below both.

 

And I think he is completely shot to ****, otherwise I would rank him significantly higher, at 2nd place behind Wlad, actually.

Maybe the Prenga fight was a bit of a fluke, and Joshua will perform better against Fury, well see, but for now I think he is completely washed up - mind you, Joshua looked bad against Jake Paul too.

I mean objectively, it is. Beyond anyone's individual opinion on the fight, the result of Fury-AJ (assuming it happens) will significantly determine the perception of each man's legacy. If Fury were to get KO'd for example, he would be held in much lower regard, rightly or wrongly. This, along with it projected to be one of the biggest fights in HW history, and the biggest in British boxing history, makes it a fight with extremely high stakes.
